Raja performs his deadly St. Elmos fire attack.See, this is what I always saw in Raja. Not the drunken goofy sarcastic weirdo that your SUPPOSED to see. I saw a badass, old ass dezolisian priest whos seen a lot in his day, and has also exorcised a lot as well.
So, I drew raja displaying his level of mastery of the holy arts. =3
I've been wanting to draw this image since I was 12 but couldn't do it, and I wasn't about to half-ass it so I waited until now, at age 22. I have finally drawn him. <33333
Keep in mind that this is only my third drawing using copic! markers so some things may be off, BUT DON'T LOOK FOR THEM. XD
Cheesily drawn or not, its STILL raja. Badass, priestly, jokester raja. The kickass guy I saw in him the whole of Phantasy Star IV.
Type O negative and the stylings of rob zombie were my soundtrack. <3~ THE GREEEEEEEN MAAAAN....OH THE GReeeEEEeeeennnnn maaAAANNNNnn.... XP

Oh Raja to me is WORLDS of badass. I can't beat the game without him! I mean yeah, he's a goofy sorta easygoing fellow, but he has some MAJOR power! The guy can exorcise DEMONS for shit's sake! He has an ability that only hurts THE MOST UNHOLY OF ALL POWERFUL EVIL THINGS---that's something.

He may be funny, he may be nice, he may like to go out to the pub and have a few drinks with his homies but you dont want to make him angry! you wont like him when he's angry! lol St elmos fire is overpowered lol thats why raja is the toughest guy in the game lol he'll heal everything and kill everything on his own heh Love his eyes here, really badass looking! And all thos blue flames and "power smoke" around him? Amazing!......uuuu flames....

Raja was one of my favorite characters ( goddamnit I don't think I can not say that about any character from PSIV. D: ), and I AM SO HAPPY that someone does badass art of him. I love all the SWISH and the blue is fantabulous, as well as his glowy eyes.

DUDE...and I have more badass raja up to draw too, I can't NOT give him his dues. He KICKS ASS. This one would have turned out better had I known how to operate the copic airbrush, sadly I didn't so the flames are too solid for my tastes but DAMMIT if it ain't raja whoopin' tushie like he can do SO WELL.

Now that is an unusual interpertation of Raja. Which makes him actually look as if he COULD kick tail. Unfortunately, he was a touch too fragile in the game for me to really like using him, although I hear that in later levels he becomes ferociously powerful...

Oh he starts off frail but I know how to whoop him into MAJOR shape. Heck, I couldn't beat the game WITHOUT raja to tell the truth. I tried. I didn't last through the second Dark Force phase. O__o; While raja isn't physically strong ((hell, who IS at 85? Er well...technically you could only count raja as about 50 because his races average life span is 160 years. O____o )), there ARE some awesome things he can do as an offensive assault. What I like to do is put him in the FRONT of the line, in other words make him the leader, and then build his old green hide up from the ashes! <3 His st. fire attack is UNMATCHED when used against dark creatures in direct league with dark force. Remember it like this if you want: the eclipse torch heals the good and incinerates the bad. Even things like snow owls and helixes are good, they're technically just wild animals. Not bad, just trying to survive. While things like dimension worms, chaos sorcerers and dark sabres ((I think they're called )), are out for nothing but trouble. Raja draws the st.fire DIRECTLY from the eclipse torch, technically he's just drawing the energy from the torch through his own body as a channel. <3333 Also, build him up to a high level and his healing abilities beat EVERYONE elses. Yes, even rika and demi. He's THE best healer, but why not? He's a priest, and we're following traditional RPG titles. XD
Yeah, I love raja FAR too much. XD And yeah, you SO CAN comapre him to a guru. X3 He's a joker yes, but underneath that goofy exterior lies some HORRIBLY awesome abuilities. Why do you think so many people on dezolis revere him and so many other priests at Gumbious Temple are terribly jealous of him?? Theres something there. And the other main characters DON'T quite figure that out right away. <3

Un-doubtedly perhaps the only "heroic" picture of Raja I've ever seen.
If I recall, there were times that when you used "St. Fire," it would do a debilitating "1" in damage.

Thats right, St. Fire was most destructive against- duh-, dark cesspool thriving dark creatures. It's just like the eclipse torch, it incinerates the unholy. Take raja bodybuilding and then use it against dark force. >=3 I couldn't have beaten the game without the old guy healing shit and burning shit up. <33333333333333333

It's absolutely beautiful! This is just what I always wanted to see! Everything is just perfect, from the glow in his eyes, to the blue fire, to the lightning effects around him, the purple background (is that a rock edge in the distance?), his hat and the cape he wears and all the awesome shading, the perspective of his hands... Whoa! That is truly magical. I love the white lighting zapping off into the royal purple background, and his pose and stance is very action packed. You're very good with those markers, and you'll only get better.

Well, yeah, his armor is crazy, mostly because of the very few reference pics. But drawing mech/robot isn't that bad, it just uses more solid shapes and lines a lot of the time. You'd probably be very good at making the metal look shiny and realistic because you can blend light quite effectively.

I knew there had to be a dark background in order to bring out a more glowing effect so I went with it. Originally it was going to be a snowstorm, considering how he lives on a very cold planet, but I knew it wouldn't work so....plum BG away! <3

Yep! St. fire, also known as the holy skill st. elmos fire, mentioned and used in many rpg games by persons of holy stature. ((hint: the frozen flame in the game chrono cross, is a knock off of the st. elmos fire legend and you can find a relic in final fantasy tactics called "st. elmos fire" ))

Yeah, I can't just draw measly portraits and stuff all the time, when I do PS fanart it will usually include a technique or something that does or could happen in the game. I remember that series from start to finish so I can't deny it its glory.

Yeah, some scanners are not all that great but I found out that photoshop has its own scan manipulation software! I dont know if you knew this already but just in case

Its both a legend and scientific fact really ((sans the religious parts, its known today as a low density white-blue lightning consisting of ionized plasma ))here, this is a link giving a decent history of st. elmos fire.

You'll find it coincides with will O' the wisps, naga fireballs and ball lightning. This topic explains st. elmos fire more on the realistic base and only describes its religious myth slightly, so just search it in books or the net if you prefer and you should find that myth has it that st. elmos fire was once believed to "heal the dying" ((quite like the flame worshipped by the desolisians)) .

Eh, if you geek about it too much then I'm right there with ya because I even thought about attempting making a manga out of the WHOLE PS IV story. O_o It was too much work for a teenage me unfortunately, and I just wasn't good enough to make it appealing then. >__> I was going to stick with the original story and everything, NOT deviate from it, and somehow I was going to incorporate the commissions that you can go on. I relished drawing the naula shortcake fairy, also known as the naula shortcake chef. >=3 ((Oh and your parents are THE AWESOME. <3333 )) My mom used to stay up all night long gaming and I'd wake up to her at 6 A.M playing games.
