Wheww, this is probably the most involved painting I have ever done, and it’s safe to say that grappling with that background was no easy task (help I do not understand colour). I’m as happy as I think I will ever be with it now, and to pull my blog ever farther towards the palaeo side of things, I’m uploading it before I go mad with everything I could yet still tweak with it!
Parasaurolophuses are just the best. It was a bus sized grazer from the Cretaceous period, and came complete with particularly fancy headgear that could make some interesting sounds (Click here to listen to some ). They could switch between being both bipedal and quadrupedal. This female has just left her herd and wandered in to seek something other than the endless swamp outside. I based the markings off gazelles and okapi, hence the stripes. Interesting fact: the Cretaceous period was the first time flowered plants started to appear on earth, cool.
I apologise if the colours are a bit wacky for some of you or if it’s too dark. My laptop screen is the actual worst and I’m working in the darkness in a tent in Dorset currently (Jurassic Coast yay), so I don’t have much choice but to accept it as it is. Sorry I’m quite sad to upload it with it looking so different between my phone and laptop, but hey ho.
