Literally just now, I found this in my old art folder and decided to upload it. This is from November of last year, so I'm surprised that it actually looks decent!!!! のヮの
Anyway, when I was still in high school, I developed this rather odd french-cartoony art style and used it to redesign fairy tales to my liking. I've always liked the idea of red riding hood with black hair rather than the blonde hair she's often drawn with, because I think it contrasts nicer with the scarlet in my opinion... anyway, I think her surname was supposed to be rather punny. Laroux or Petit, something like that. I think her first name was something to do with red? scarlet? ruby? hell if i know. She was definitely French, as the fairy tale is French in origin.

I think for the most part it followed the plotline of the original tale, but I aimed for something a little deeper but nevertheless not very...original. I think the wolf might have been a werewolf, or something. also the huntsman was actually an apprentice. there were trees. and i'm pretty sure she had a dad because I got tired of dadless orphans. if i wanted to be edgy, i could have always made the wolf her dad or something.......HMMMM.......... NO THAT'S STUPID

As for the costume influence-- her normal clothes I based off the folk dress of Alsace-Lorraine. I especially adore the brightly-embroidered scarves. The formal dress places the setting somewhere in the 1400s, although this dress looks more Italian than anything... yeah... I don't know. I remember that I procrastinated this quite a bit because I really wanted to learn how to draw backgrounds first so that I could draw some visually stunning, disney-esque concept art- to this day, I have a lot of pictures of forests in funny lighting saved on my computer for referecing. But alas, it probably won't amount to anything past what I have already, so here you go
