Here's the newest edition of my SSB 3DS roster. I've made some serious reconsiderations regarding my two rosters.
First of all, all 35 Vets from Brawl are returning in both versions.
Secondly, 5 of the 15 newcomers are in both versions; Both the WiiU and the 3DS will be graced by Tingle, Toad, Waluigi, Zoroark and Ridley.
The other 10 newcomers; Medusa, Starfy, Waddle Dee, Ray MK III, Hector, Isaac, Andy, Muddy Mole, Nester and Slime; are version exclusives to the WiiU. Why?
Kid Icarus has had 3 games. 2 of those 3 were on handhelds.
Starfy has always been a very handheld-exclusive series.
Kirby started on handhelds, and appears on them far more consistently than on consoles.
Custom Robo has had 5 games, only 2 of which were handheld. But considering the counterpart is Sin & Punishments 2 for 2 console record...yeah.
Hector only appears on handhelds, and is currently the most relevant Axe user.
Golden Sun has 2 reps! Yes. Why? Because it deserves 2 reps, and, like Fire Emblem, has several 'main characters'.
Andy is from a series named Advance Wars. Must I go on?
Mole Mania was a Game Boy game.
Nintendo Power...well, you hold it in your hands, right? And he also had a game on the Virtual Boy, which is very loosely defined as handheld! Except not.
Dragon Quest games have been on handhelds recently, and The Slime of Town's very own quite popular cartoon show was on a handheld...I mean, the game starring Slime. Why DQ over FF? Because of Japan liking DQ over FF.

I'll defend any of these choices as asked.

Characters on this roster I would exclude from a singular roster: Medusa, Ray MK III, Hector, Andy, Muddy Mole, Nester, Slime.
