Description
One of the weirdest things I dreamed of.It could also be one of the Fungal Guardians, don't you think ?
A peculiar monstrosity which can only be found in a region most infamous, known as the Goreswamps. This dark and damp place takes its name from reddish vegetation that indeed gives an impression of monstrous organs and blood fields stretching for miles in the shadow of Titanic tree roots. There, among strange plants and fungi, the creatures lurk and wait for their prey. Fungal Lurker is an ambush predator, staying submerged for hours with only the stalk-like tentacles above the water level imitating similar looking fungi. Relatively weak jaws are accompanied by a pair of limbs each with four opposable fingers. In more extreme cases the back tentacles can help further restraining the prey, as the creatures apparently only possess internal skeleton in the front portion of the body, allowing its hindquarters to be extremely flexible. Contrary to some beliefs, neither the tentacles nor creature itself produces poison or venom;
The most remarkable feature they possess is a pair of glowy eyes located within its mouth. Some believe these aren't actual eyes but bioluminescent organs that attract unwary prey right into the creatures open jaws, similarly to how some abyssal fish hunt. The majority of researchers, however, believe those aren't bioluminescent organs, not even creature's eye at all. They are eyes indeed, although of a formless shadow entity that needs living vessel to maintain itself in our world. Whether it would be a parasite or a symbiont remains to be seen. True nature and origin of these beasts still eludes scholars.

I was misremembering the boss. I was thinking of ultros, but he looks less similar than I had remembered! Been a long time since I played that. finalfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Ul…

Przez tą domniemaną umiejętność hipnotyzowania ofiar skojarzył mi się z pewnym galaretowatym potworem z pierwszego książkowego "Metra 2033".

I think you might be right, KOR. This could even be one of the "monstrous mounds" mentioned in the garden scene. Given your idea however, of its mouth being connected with some void, perhaps it could instead be one of those demons of the outer abysses, which fashioned for its use a crude fleshly puppet in our globule of existence, perhaps to experience the carnal life of lesser beasts, or perhaps even to act as an emissary of the chaos which will eventually wipe all life clean from the Earth...
Also, this is another contender my favorite of your dream creatures. The detail of its eyes possibly being in its abyssal mouth is awesome.

Hmm, that is possible, still, I got the feeling these are two things actually working together to devour both meat and spirit of the target.
Anyway, I agree with you about the eyes. Otherwise, it would have been just another monster. A good one to be honest. But the eyes make it really one of a kind thing so far.

Could be both. The spirit using the living thing as a way to interact with our world and eat souls. XD And I quite agree. This also counts as one of the weirdest and coolest symbiotic relations ever.
