Mor mystical elf, different from what most modern fantasy has (Which I am not very fond of tbh. Maybe more of dark elves cause they are evil sadists and I can identify with them xD)This one is more like a mystical and spiritual creature. I picture it as mostly genderless and possibly developing themselves into male, female, or hermaphroditic forms as they please.Β
This could for example represent the Fairies from M.R. James in "After Dark In the Playing Fields"

Honestly thatβs one of the main reasons why modern fantasy sucks. Sure, Tolkienβs elves were also good, but they can be asshats too (and big asshats: just think of the kinslayings from the silmarillion), but most modern fantasy just exaggerates their goodness to the point where it just becomes cringy. Seriously, people ought to come up with more original ideas or fantasy is going to be dead soon
