Description
The character is my own design, although it is based on the race of Skeksis from "Dark Crystal" universe. It's a brilliant movie, one of the best I have ever seen in my life.

Skeksis are decadent race, on the brink of extinction with only a few extremely aged individuals remaining. They desperately hold onto life prolonging it via the use of magic mixed with technology. Creating this character I imagined that in such circumstances, with inevitable end coming near would actually turn towards Death worship. The skull on his wand comes from a Podling, a dwarf-like creature also appearing in Dark Crystal.

Not present during the movie events would obviously mean that this guy somehow died before them. How? At first I thought he might have been murdered by other Skeksis who, probably, wouldn't want such company.. but I discarded that idea. They would be most likely too afraid of doing so. Not afraid of murder itself, as the Skeksis were race devoid of any moral barriers, race that actually enjoyed torturing and killing other beings. No, they would be afraid of his vengance from beyond the grave, that would be possible if what he claims of his magic is true. And Skeksis were extremely superstitious beings, despite all of their advanced technology and science with deep faith in prophecies and such stuff. So why is he gone? Ritual suicide I guess. He just couldn't wait.

On the other hand he might have abandoned the Castle to live in solitude and thus still be around after the events of the movie....
