Description A small mapping project I put together featuring another Battletech AU. The main point of divergence for this timeline is during the chaos that followed the Demarcation Declaration of 2242. Instead of leaving Earth to establish themselves in what would become the Marik Commonwealth and later founding member of the Free Worlds League, Charles Marik decides to entrench his family in the politics of the Terran Alliance until the Dictatorship of James McKenna and establishment of the Terran Hegemony in place of the old Alliance. Following the death of McKenna and election of a new Director-General in 2340, Philip Marik manages to carry enough support to defeat Michael Cameron and supplant the nascent House of Cameron with the more ancient and connected House of Marik as rulers of the Hegemony. Before long the Hegemony is merged with the Marik’s personal holdings, reforming the nation once again into the aptly named “Sphere Worlds League.” From there the Butterfly Effect alters the destiny of a number of the Great Houses during the Age of War that follows. The Rhors Family manages to hold on to power in the Draconis Combine, reforming it into a much more free market focused and industrialized society with a strong Japanese cultural influence. Furthermore the Rhors would also marry into the old Terran Imperial House of Yamato to further strengthen both their legitimacy and ties to the Sphere Worlds. Half of what would have been the Free Worlds League has now fallen under the influence of Regulus who joined with Oriente and Andurien to form a Federation to protect themselves from expansion from Liao and Steiner at the height of the Age of War. The House of Rowe persisted and continues to rule the Rims Worlds Republic which has long since advanced to the point where it is recognized as a great power in the Inner Sphere even in spite of suffering recent defeats from the Lyran Commonwealth. The Davion Civil War was followed by one of the greatest periods of expansion in the history of the Federated Suns, in an Alliance with the Sphere Worlds and Regulan Federation, the Capellan Confederation was subject to partition and joint occupation by the three powers. The Outworlds Alliance was brought to heel in a lightning campaign, though the ever stubborn Taurian Concordat would take almost two decades to subjugate with those refuse to bend to Davion rule fleeing into the Periphery and founding the so called “New Concordat'' who's chief national objective remains the reconquest of their former territory. The year is now 3033, standing at the heart of Human Civilization, the Sphere Worlds League remains the most technologically advanced and militarily formidable powers in the Inner Sphere. Though a Star League as we know it has never existed in this timeline, tensions between the Great Houses remain peaceful since the end of the Great Inner Sphere War in 2991. Agreements between the Great House have since strengthened economic ties between them, further lowering the risk of large-scale war in the near future. Much like the Terran Hegemony under the Cameron’s in the main timeline, the Sphere Worlds often act as the mediating party in conflicts between the other powers, most notably by settling the Lyran-Draconis Border Conflict by supporting the establishment of an independent Rasalhague and supporting the old Terran House of Glucksburg to become Princes of the new nation. As of 3033 the Sphere Worlds is currently ruled by the 32 year old Captain-General Alyssa Marik. Though a trained MechWarrior herself, Alyssa has maintained the passive foreign policy of her predecessors in an effort to maintain the Inner Sphere balance of power. Though now as greater exploration of the Deep Periphery ventures into uncharted Space, new conflicts arise and only time will tell how long Marik can keep the peace before the Great Houses are once again at each other’s throats.
