In the year 2010 Anno Domini, the three world superpowers once again stood on the brink of war. The Holy Britannian Empire has exhausted most of its Sakuradite mines, the strange volcanic rock with it’s high conductivity and energy output has been the bedrock of the modern world. However it takes just as long as fossil fuels to form, is limited in supply, and of which control over has been the spark for a number of conflicts over the past century. Now the world is running out of what has been dubbed “the miracle rock” and the great powers desperately search for a new source of energy and wage war against each other for the last remaining Sakuradite on Earth. The island nation of Japan is home to some of the richest mines located below Mt. Fuji, ever since it’s defeat at the hands of Britannia for control of the Pacific Ocean during the First Pacific War.

Japan had since turned inward to focus on domestic issues and maintained friendly diplomatic relationships with all powers for the sake of ensuring lasting peace. This Golden Age of Neutrality came to an abrupt and violent end when on 10 August 2010, the Holy Britannian Empire, fearing economic disaster with impending depletion of it’s Sakuradite reserves, declared war. Britannia’s Invasion of the Japanese isles marked the beginning of the Second Pacific War, a brief but bloody conflict which debuted the first use of Knightmare frames in combat and ended with the apparent suicide of Japanese Prime Minister, Genbu Kururugi and subsequent surrender of his administration. In response to the Invasion, the French led European Union issued an ultimatum to Britannia ordering there withdraw from the country in 72 hours or face war with the entirety of the EU. The ultimatum was rejected thus Britannia and her ally, the Russian Empire were at war with Europe, plunging the world into a seven year bloodbath which would result in the collapse of the EU, the creation of the United Federation of Nations, development of nuclear energy, the ascension of Emperor Lelouch, and Second Britannian Civil War.

Finally ending in the establishment of a new global order where the Britannian led UFN would guide the world into an unprecedented era of peace and prosperity for all Mankind.
