Description
"Sorry but no, I don't like these teeth. Not accepting that as a payment.""What do you mean by 'not accepting that as a payment'!?"
If I get to design a set of places, one of them definitely has to be a market. This particular market is full of lost souls who are obsessed with shopping. They see a pretty piece of cloth, pay for that with a nice bowl they got yesterday, get excited, see a pile of nice teeth, exchange the cloth for that and repeat! It's a neverending cycle of being excited though it's not really the healthy kind of excited. And that's the second area of this city in a nutshell.
I want to marry the color dodge layer. Seriously I used it so much while working on these illustrations and even more with color studies for them, it's perfect for bright lights and bright lights can instantly make things cool :'D They could also instantly murder the picture but I hope that's not the case here. Color dodgeee~

Dík :> čekala bych, že bude někde něco aspoň krátkého animovaného, ale nemam úplně přehled

I like markets too, they're always so interesting with everything going on in them. That's a really interesting idea, a never ending cycle of obsessive shopping, sounds kinda scary though, very unhealthy in a way. Is someone controlling them and making them do that?

It is indeed very unhealthy xD I don't think they are being particularly controlled, they're just lost souls that found joy in that. It's probably some kind of obsession coming from the time when they were alive that just got developed here.

Ahh, that's kind of sad, sort of like a memory that they've become obsessed with?

Yep something like that! They don't remember much from the time when they were alive including the fact that they aren't now, they are generally just sticking with familiar things. For example the shadows in the first area are obsessed with working because of their industrial surrounding reminds them of that, so instead of shopping they work. It's about as productive as the shopping though, it's mostly just keeping the shadows busy. The stuff they make probably doesn't even work and someone else just deconstructs it as part of their work. Neverending cycles are great *v*

That is really sad, but also really interesting! xD Gosh I really love the idea of the neverending cycle of building and then unbuilding, even though that sounds sad for the individuals, haha but I love the idea.

I agree with you, the colors in this turned out beautifully! It's mysterious, dark and strangely soothing at the same time too! Man, I'd absolutely play a videogame with sceneries like this and gladly get lost there for a while, haha. Old-fasionhed street markets have always fascinated me in real life, by the way. Sometimes I don't even buy anything, but I still go because I love walking through them and enjoying the atmosphere.
Reading your little story made this artwork all the more cooler, more alive.
Also, I love your designs for these lost souls. I have a thing for anything with masks and fullbody covering clothes elsewhere.

Old street markets are the best! There's aren't many of them around the place where I live or at least they don't look that interesting but the atmoshpere is still nice sometimes. And I'm really glad that you like designs, they were the main thing about this but I feel like I didn't spend enough time on them xD
