Description
"Easy there, Sul." Lor patted the dragon's nose behind his spike. M'Suldar flinched at the touch, head fins flicked back, but he quickly warmed up to the contact. Lor smiled and began adjusting the strap going across Sul's chest."This is a bad idea Lor," Len remarked. "Its bad enough that you have a dragon on the property. Now you want to take it out alone where no one will find your body." Lor smirked at his twin brother and grabbed the reigns. Len was a retired dragon hunter and never trusted the creatures. The introduction of dragons on the island put him on edge even though they were no harm to anyone under their riders' rule. When Lor bought an Australian jumper, and unintelligent type dragon, Len never left him alone around it.
"Oh c'mon. He's harmless. Look at this." He produced a whistle from a pocket and gave it a short blow. Sul coked his head to one side. Lor blew again and the dragon tilted his head the other way. He reached for the whistle with his nose to give it a quick sniff. "See? Wasn't that adorable?"
"Whatever. If anything happens, you brought it on yourself." Len turned quickly around and left the barn. Lor laughed under his breath and walked to Sul's side. The saddle was up pretty high, but it was no challenge for him to pull himself up to the dragon's back. He had never ridden a hopping animal before, so this was going to quite the learning process. He urged Sul forward. Using his wings as front legs the pair moved slowly towards the door. "Alright, let's do this." Lor pulled a pair of goggles over his eyes and flicked the reigns. Sul began jumping forward.
With the first hop, Lor was lifted out of the saddle and slammed back down. He winced and used his legs to lift him up slightly. Riding was smoother from there. Wind rushed by the pair as they made their way to a forest trail. Sul was faster than the horses Lor was used to. Much faster. Nearly double the speed. Lor grinned and whooped as they raced down the path. What a rush! Lor felt how the dragon's weight shifted with each leap. It was thrilling to ride on the back of such a beast. Within half an hour, the path began circling a pristine lake. This was Lor's favorite trail to take. He pulled Sul to a slower pace on the far side of the water. He dismounted looked over the view. Sul leaned forward to rest his weight on his wings.
