Just as a suggestion, you should try making a Windows 10 version if applicable.

Looks pretty solid. A theme that should've been a default to begin with

anyone who is stuck with the basic windows 7 color theme will love this work.
this one is easy on the eyes, some might call it elegant.
in my top 3 with other basic themes.

well, i was really feed up with the flashy themes with 13453 colors in them, so i went for an elegant approach and simple design. glad you like it!

let me just say that i'm fu*kin impressed man, really easy to use and does a great job!
there is just one bug: i was on aero, and i opened your app and tried to apply one of your themes, Win UI went to classic, and my aero was disabled in windows personalization :\ ...i figured out that you have to go to basic theme and then use your app....
anyway, i packed the screenshoots and the error log in a .zip, so you can see what i mean...

First: My application is just for the Starter editon of Windows 7 and shouldn't be used on an other edition.
Second: This is a video where i am showing how to use my application.
After you watched this video and it still will not work write me back.
MFG

btw can you edit the app to work like universal theme browser, on all win7 editions, that could be a big hit?

i've watched the video, the thing is, i already have full permissions on resources folder since i'm doing themes, the only problem there is that i have to switch off aero and then use your program.
and there seems to be something weird with adding other themes, i tried to apply this theme, royale7, and after selecting it, the UI stays the same, but the aero.msstyles file of the theme gets deleted :/ weird thing...

I've tried my program on ten PC's and I've never got an error.
Please try to copy Colors\Default.msstyles to C:\Windows\Resources\Themes\Aero\aero.msstyles. The open a command prompt and enter: "net start themes" or restart your computer. What happens?

same thing, i can use your supplied themes in program, but when i try to apply other theme, windows switches to classic and the theme file gets deleted :/

MP7000 In reply to Kipet [2011-02-04 18:24:01 +0000 UTC]
Then it's a problem of your Windows version not of my program. Sorry.

Kipet In reply to MP7000 [2011-02-04 19:03:17 +0000 UTC]
well, if it's an isolated case, no big deal, i don't use basic themes anymore, and you got a good app there, so good luck with it

one more thing, the files in my /resources are original, no mods there whatsoever... i have .net4, those 3 system files are patched and they work since i can use your basic themes... so i don't think that my system could be the problem...

I have developed a program that can change the themes of Windows 7 starter. Now I want to ask you, if I can incorporate your theme in my program.

Well, I managed to get the theme to work without messing too much with Aero (seems I had to copy the directory, Windows wouldn't let me touch the msstyle :[). But there's a problem with Firefox and Thunderbird status bars: the text is black, so I can't read it at all.
I'd also recommend making the Menu bar and Organise/Open/Burn/New Folder bar in explorer flat - not a gradient, unless you intend this to be more a Royale Win 7 than a slightly stylised version of the XP scheme.

a lot of ppl complained about that status bar, i made a fix, but it seems firefox is guilty for those colors, google "change firefox status text color", there are some tutorials that will get it fixed in few easy steps.
as for the changes, i'm sorry but i don't believe i will be going back to this theme anymore. I'm working on some new themes and i don't really have time right now...

Uh, there? [link]
Thunderbird does it too: it only seems to affect icons. The text is okay.

This looks nice, but why do I have to replace the Aero default? Can't you package it as a standalone shell theme?

This is a nice theme! It's really nice!
...Except it ruins the status bar in Firefox.
Also, you need to make a version with the Luna Element 5 Blue colors. That'd be epic.

that ff statusbar problem was fixed in the last update, can you post a screenshot of your problem? and i'm not sure if i'll make any more color mods to this theme, at least not in the basic mode...

Techokami In reply to Kipet [2010-10-01 19:15:45 +0000 UTC]
First, you only made one color variation of this theme... and it's still a black-ish, dark theme. Only it's a bit more gray.
Second, here are some screenshots of problems noted:
[link] - This is the problem with Firefox. See how the status bar is all black and everything is spaced improperly?
[link] - Then I noticed this when saving the image. The input and dropdown boxes, they are borderless! This loses clarity.
Why does it have to be so hard to make my computer look the way I want it to

i'll check that first thing, the second one is supposed to look that way, and you should stop bitching around and maybe do a theme for yourself to see how hard it is...
