VERY old XDI know the quality is pretty bad, and the anatomy is pretty off but I still want it in my gallery.
Don't ask who's blood it is, use your imagination and make something up ^_^

I'd say that this is a nice piece of concept art... it deserves to be maybe a panel in a short comic! As for who's getting mutilated, Antoine either doesn't have the guts or would be more likely to be near his wife then Sally at the time (depending on the time frame) Sonic is likely, though I can imagine Tails taking the proverbial bullet for her. Knuckles wouldn't splatter, since he's got regeneration, and monkey khan has more cybernetics then flesh... Something vaguely like this happened in STH 132-135 (can't remember the precise issue)... when Mina intercepted a shot meant for Sally. No splatter though.

Hmm... on the other hand, Sally wouldn't tear up for just anyone. It would have to be someone important too her.
A zombie apocalypse... with Sonic and Sally trying to run. The zombies block their way and Sonic doesn't want to risk hurting them since he can't tell if his friends are still in their or not, so he tells Sally to get back. Zombie-Rosie moans and lunges, and Sonic intercepts her.

Sonic: Run Sally! Go! I'll be right behind you!
Sally: Sonic what's going on!?
Sonic: I don't know! We have to get out of the city!
-they round a corner and find themselves hemmed in, with only a few zombies between them and the gate-
Sonic: Blast! We were so close...
Sally: R-rosie?
-Sally backs up as the zombie of her old nanny, Rosie, still wearing the tattered hood of red, drooled and advanced-
Sally: Rosie what happened too you? Please tell me it didn't get you too...
-the Rosie gargles something incomprehensible, and lunges at Sally, giving her a glimpse of the mortal injuries that make her a zombie-
Sally: Noooo!
Sonic: Lookout!
-Sonic throws himself into an intercepting tackle and for a brief moment, the way is clear, but Sally is still too shocked to move. Sonic is grappling with Rosie, and not doing well despite managing to stay on his feet after that tackle.-
Sonic: Run Sal!
Sally: Sonic... Rosie... she's...
Sonic: Rosie what's WRONG with y- CHOMP.
-Rosie chomps down on Sonic's neck, and Que the red spray-
Sally: S-sonic...?
Sonic: S-sally... R-run...
Sally: SONIC!
Sonic: RUN! GET OUT OF HERE! GO... don't let this happen to e...ev..ery... one... elsssss............
-"Thud" Sonic falls down, and Zombie Rosie goes down too and starts to eat her grisly fill. Sally can only watch, too horrified and shocked to get out even a strangled sob, and the other zombies amble away, hearing a crash back towards the main part of town.-
-Zombie Rosie gets up, having sated herself on Sonic, and ambles back the way the others had come, but Sally just stares into empty space. Then Sonic's bloodied glove twitches.-
-Sally comes out of her shock for a faint moment.-
Sally: S-sonic?
-Sonic, or what's left of him, slowly gets up and turns to look at her. Half of his side is missing and his ribcage hangs exposed. One of his spines was nommed off to.-
Sonic: -insert a long string of zombie sounds-
Sally: No... this can't be happening... you can't be one of them... please don't be one of them...
-She Chokes, and the thing that was once Sonic advances.-

Quite pretty, sometimes horrible thing have to coming in our face like this. It's like the childhood favorite (as of Bug Bunny, Disney World, etc.) got ruin when see them doing the "nasty" side, if you know what I mean.
Therefore I respect your choose of design and genre like this one.

My thoughts would be, that someone was just brutally slaughtered in front of her. it would explain the spray of blood, at least. It would also explain the expression on her face, which I would guess to be a mix of shock, horror, and grief.
And yes, a re-draw sounds like a nice idea.

I love the expression, and concept. The fact that we can't tell whose blood it is makes us really think.
I think this would make a nice re-draw for you. This isn't a bad drawing--Far from it!--but you've come a long way since this, and I think you could even better now than when you first drew this.

My guess is, the blood splatter's a result of Tails finally snapping and giving someone else (Robotnik, Mogul, Scourge, etc) a taste of what happens when a Chaos Adept suffers a superpower meltdown.
