It is only now, as I finish the page that I realise how freaken weird it is that the only dark skinned character in the main cast (not counting characters without speaking roles) is first introduced by placing his hand on someone's shoulder while he is off-screen. The expression on Kaye's face is just the face of a squire who was lipping off without realising that someone he respects heard.
