Description
I wasn't really expecting this to happen when I turned around and saw it. I actually had my 500 on photographing wildlife at the time so I decided to get in close thinking it could really make for a dramatic image. The mountainside was bright orange from the light of sunrise/golden hour beaming against it. When an opportunity presents itself, click away!---John.

i guess at F7.1 in the exif that confirms it was an optical w adjustable aperture and not a fixxed mirror catadioptric lens Nice work and stunning beauty

Sigma 170-500mm F5-6.3 APO Aspherical. There's 2 different versions of this lens, one is sorta so-so, gets the job done but don't expect incredible shots and then the copy I have which is better. I am pretty floored by detail it renders and its sharpness.

Exceptional , were you using a 500 mm Cat Mirror or an all optical glass 500mm

Amazing! I love what the atmosphere can do to the moon sometimes. It seems so unreal, it's simply unnaturally large looking with the atmospheric lensing.
