Description
The Inkdrops Project is an exercise I am carrying out at the moment - one drawing a day in less than an hour, using indian ink.
Daily-ish updates on my Tumblr and Facebook ; weekly recaps here on DA.
So I went to see Frozen. And despite all my misgivings - it was fantastic.

Reminds me of that seen from PJO
Where Zoe is killed and Artemis turns her into a constellation. Really beautiful, well done.

great pun. Otherwise wonderful artwork. DId you really do all the black space with ink? Must've cost you some time and ink. Love it!

Thanks! Yes, I filled in the space with ink and a brush (it didn't take as long as you may think)

excellent! I'm amazed at how you managed to control the brushed on India ink so well! It's so runny!

Thanks! I actually use ink pens for the linework (UniPin mostly). I use ink from the inkpot only for large flat areas.

Oooh I really like your take on the ice castle. I love the high contrast of this piece, and that is some very smooth ink work!

I like it! While I'm not familiar with the "Snow Queen" tale the movie is based off of, it seems as if this picture pays more homage to the actual tale. Not that I'm complaining, it's a great piece.
(Also, I see what you did there, lol.)

Thanks!
To be honest I was a bit disappointed in the ice castle and Elsa's costume as the Snow Queen (I feel the visuals were nowhere near as amazing as the rest of the movie/costumes, especially the opening scene at dawn and the frozen city in the snow storm). So I figured I would draw it the way I would have pictured it myself, instead of how they choose to do it in the movie. If that makes sense?

It makes sense! I personally loved the ice castle and Elsa's costume, but I'm open to fan interpretations. Plus, I was not familiar with the fairy tale until after I saw the movie and learned what it was loosely based off of.

Yes, with a brush!
It's not quite as smooth as it looks here in real life.

Yeah, it makes the paper bend around the corners.

I like the dramatic pose and how it goes together with the mountain. Is this a scene from Frozen? This was worth the extra time you spent.

Thanks!
No, it's not a scene from the movie - I suppose it's rather how I would have pictured the ice castle and Elsa's Snow Queen costume (which were the only parts of the movie visuals that left me a bit disappointed).

Thank you!
I am trying to do more of these black and white pictures, they're really quick to do and great practice for composition and contrast.
