Description
I do not usually submit each of those doodles individually but I suspect you guys will enjoy this one. This is a personal reboot of the iconic poster for “Wicked”. The original poster is amazingly well composed and recreating it with a personal twist was very good exercise. For those who do not know the original poster (come out from under that rock!): en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Wic…
The Inkdrops Project is an exercise I am carrying out at the moment - one drawing a day in less than an hour, using indian ink.
Daily-ish updates on my Tumblr and Facebook ; weekly recaps here on DA.

Great use if negative space, and that's one lovely hat indeed

Maybe it was, still .. making a hat design look cool isn't easy (getting the curves right and all that XD)

I absolutely love your interpretation! I remember being dazzled by the original when the musical first came out and I think your rendition really captures the intricacies of the book. Well done C:

Thank you!
To be perfectly honest, not much credit goes my way because I really stuck to the original design. I was mostly trying to understand how the poster is constructed and balanced, because it is such a brilliant example of minimalistic, effective design using blocks and negative spaces (although I couldn't help but add some frills and details, but that's another story... )
