Red Tide plagues coastal cities the world over
as pollution + the use of agrochemicals continues
so does this marine malady, but here's a few tips on
how to avoid getting in water that can make you sicky:
if the water is red / reddish brown
if the ocean is foaming way too much (like in this photo)
if the ocean foam is yellow / orange / brownish
if dead fish have washed up on the shoreline
if seagulls + pelicans are not diving in the water
if the bubbles in the foam do not pop once hitting the shore (such as in this photo)
if the ocean is foaming out past the breakers* (where the waves crash*, which causes the foam)
if the ocean has an intense odor of fish (so much so you can no longer smell the salt in the air)
if you see any, many or all of these signs the next time you're at the beach, please do yourself a favor + don't get in the water
