Lol, you might be folding them too tightly. Try to do it just a little bit looser, and make sure you hold the star by the edges and not in the middle.
Are you pinching the corners or are you just pushing the edge in with your nail? Try pushing it in instead of pinching if you are :3

I've made one already, but it's hard for me to get the paper strip the right size. Too fat and it doesn't work. Heh. These are so much fun though. You're right, very addicting. Tee hee~!

:3 If you have lined paper, that's the best to use :3 Just cut out strips from that, it's the perfect size :3
