My mom hated it because the stuffed animals/clothes were soooooo expensive so whenever you get to the station with the little bows (which were free) she'd tell me to put a ton on bows on my rabbit lmao

and yeahhh...I was forced into build-a-bear once it was awful, but I was 12 and had already developed my inability to look at stuffed animals in the eyes by then. :'D my sister loved it tho and got one that sort of looks like the one you drew, actually! :0

honestly I think it's all about the shiny/plastic/glass eyes, because yeah, the sewn-on ones or anime plushies don't bother me nearly as much as the typical stuffed bear/animal kinds.
