Sorta~ Shiisa are an Okinawan tradition ^o^ at my house we keep them in the doorways and on the roof for protection

The basic concept is the same, and if you actually look at the statues, they are near identical, lol. They basically evolved differently in the different cultures, but Foo Dogs do the same thing, in regards they protect the house and people.
