An updated version of my Twilight redesign that I did a few months ago, since I wanted to polish it a bit more. Feel free to use this design if you would like, just credit me please!

So for Twilight's story, it stays relatively the same in my version. She was born to a middle class unicorn family in Canterlot, and showed great interest in magic and academics from a young age. At her entrance exam for Celestia's school, she receives her cutie mark after hatching Spike's egg. Celestia takes Twilight under her wing as her pupil, and asks Twilight's family to help raise Spike, since he imprinted on Twilight. Thanks to Twilight's closeness to the Princess, her family climbs the social ranks and her brother, Shining Armor, joins the Royal Guard. Twilight excels at her studies, but becomes a bit of a hermit in the process, spending all her time in the Library and losing touch with everyone but Celestia and Spike. One night, as she is reading a bedtime story to Spike, she finds that she's heard of the Elements of Harmony before. Looking through several old books, she finds that the legend of Nightmare Moon might not be just a legend, and quickly runs to warn Celestia. Celestia, however brushes her off and instead sends her to Ponyville to check on the preparations for the Summer Sun Celebration, like in the original show. My version of the story will deviate quite a bit from the events of Friendship is Magic, but the beginning is pretty much the same

Also, notes on my design process; since I already quite like Twilight's original design, I haven't changed it much, instead opting to add more detail to it. I want all of the Mane 6 to be recognisable, while still refreshing their designs. Anyways, I've always liked it when fanart adds yellow stripes to Twilight's hair, so I decided to make it a permanent features. I also wanted to incorporate the six pointed star imagery on her, hence the shape of the socks on her legs and the patch on her chest. The star on her forehead is hereditary mark she got from her father, Shining Armor will have a faint star on his forehead as well. And for those of you who noticed the star shaped pupils and starry pattern on her back, those are two features that I will explain in another post as it will require its own backstory.
