for those of you who don’t wanna read the spiel below, i just want to give you a HUGE thank-you for supporting me, watching me, favouriting and commenting on my work, and just in general sticking by me. i love and appreciate you all!!

the motivation behind this piece was just that the original expression on Simba always irked me (i think it’s just his eyes?) and i wanted to try another redraw! especially a happier one compared to my last piece. also just for transparency, i only drew Simba in my redraw, the background (including Pumbaa) is from the original!

when i uploaded my last deviation, i didn’t expect to go on a year-long hiatus! it was the start of the pandemic (i hope you are all doing well!) and my laptop completely went bust. some of you might remember i was already having issues with it, but this time it was SO much worse. i got lazy in backing up my files (please learn from my mistakes omg) and when it unexpectedly corrupted i lost everything. my art trades, my characters, my not-uploaded ref sheets, the two comics i was working on, my animations... literally everything. as you can probably imagine, that’s enough to burn ANYONE out.

but i haven’t stopped drawing, and i haven’t stopped loving the lion king and this community. i have thought about you all every single day, and i intended to return a lot sooner, but as more time went on (and as real life got more hectic) i just felt like no time was the right time.

i’m hoping to upload some new stuff soon, i saved and invested in an ipad which i’ve been drawing on for a little while now. it’s been a learning curve, but it’s fun!

anyway, i’ve got a lot of catching up to do! including getting used to dA’s new layout lol. i hope to speak to you all again soon! <3
