So more logical explanation:
If Dark going to be dumped after getting really close to his special one, his glitched system will be on overload. He isn't too emotional, so sudden deep and strong depression will lead to multiple errors. Why is this? Dark wasn't programmed to have a character, so his system can't handle strong bitter or happy emotions. Overloads and multiple errors leading to malfunctioning his hands movement or legs and then : cooler system. He won't be able to cool off, since his emergency program is in comolete chaos trying to fix other stuff, like movement. So eventually cheap and flammable details will reach their temperature and he'll start to burn.
As i said: in my AU robots have sensitive wires and parts (due their high mobility and risk to get hurt easily) so basically i'm sadistic bastard that tourcher poor Dark xD
