The gun is too specific. It is too big to be a sidearm. Such a large and heavy gun forces a soldier to use it as a primary weapon and have a "normal" pistol as a backup weapon. Or have a rifle in your hands, this slugthrower and a pistol like Glock/Beretta/Grach for quick draw and use in really serious situations. You can's draw this elephant-killer as quickly as a normal "tactical" pistol, it has only 5 rounds and its powers is FAR more than required to kill a human being. Any kind of man who is not a cyborg or a genetically modified Resident Evil-like thing can die being shot even a such low caliber as 4.6x30mm used in HK MP7. 9x19mm can easilly kill. .45ACP kills excellently and has a great stopping power. Why should we use a weapon able to one-hit-kill a dinosaur against a puny "bald monkey" with a rifle? This is fucking overkill! This is even more powerful than an assault rifle cartridge! Standart 5,56 bullet throug brain or heart will turn anybody into a corpse. We still fight another human beings, not fucking aliens able to survive after direct RPG hit and not fucking combat droids!

So in what way should this weapon be used? Desert Eagle which is MUCH WEAKER gun is not actually used (at least officially) in any kind of military or police forces. And this thing dwarfs Desert Eagle like a toy gun. 

As I see it this weapon should be compared not with pistols or revolvers but with SHOTGUNS. This is basically a powerful armour piercing 5-round sawed off shotgun. Somewhat like MAG-7. But more precise, with more range and effectivenes against a high-grade body armour. It can be used even against nonexistend nowadays sci-fi armour. Even against powered armour as it exists in Fallout or Warhammer 40K or HALO.

Do you hear about pfeifer zeliska .600 nitro express revolver? There are also many revolvers in big calibers, like .50 Beowulf, .50 S&W, .50 AE and others. But RSh developed for spec forces, and it is very strange, usually big bore revolvers used for hunting, i just can't imagine employment for this monster.

Yes, I've heard of this S&W .500 revolver before. Apparently it's so you can shoot big bears without having to lug around a big rifle everywhere. Still seems pretty nutty. But as I say, I think having it fire from the bottom chamber is a pretty good idea for reducing the massive kick you would get from this gun.
