Description So I'm halfway through a book series called Vampirates, and this one scene struck me as "worth a fanart". Conner Tempest (one of the two main protagonists) got really freaked out over having killed a man for the first time (earlier he got by pirating just wounding enemies), and here Cheng Li (major supporting character) is helping him come to grips with it.

"The greatest terrors aren't out there on the oceans. They're not hiding in the shadows. They're deep inside you. They're in your blood. You're no different, its the same for all of us."

Really cool dialogue, and great character development for Cheng Li, since her introduction in the first book as sort of an uptight high strung person.

That does sound like some really strong dialogue.
I was wondering and, I should point out I haven't looked through your gallery but, have you tried blending a bit? You seem to understand shading and anatomy well but your pencil strokes are noticeable and raw. Sometimes that's good for atmosphere or texture but in skin and fabric and soft, gentle scenes it helps to soften things up a bit

Yeah, I have tried using a blending stick on a few colored pencil works, and it did look better than what I usually do.

I really oughtta try it with some black and white pencil. Thanks.

So, here's a pic where I tried doing lots of blending with shading pencils

I've done little bits of blending with some colored pencil works, buthere's one where I tried using lots of blending

I still need more practice with it I guess? :/

Okay, inΒ fav.me/d81yny0 , tell me what kind of pencils you used, what their values were, and what materials you used to blend.
And inΒ fav.me/d82xwvl tell me what brand of colored pencils you used.
Yeah, let's start there.

For Due South I used Prismacolor Premier colored pencils, which I'm told are really fancy, and used a prisma color premeir colorless blending pencil.

For Klaraxander I used Sanford Design Ebony shading pencils and mostly used a blender that you'd normally use for oil pastels.

Awesome work! I love this scene, Cheng Li's one of my favourite characters, I love how she grows throughout the series.
