Description
A strange image from a dream that I had about 13years ago, that I've wanted to draw from the second it came into my mind but up until now did not think my drawing abilities were good enough to depict its eerie pretty-ness.Basically its a long procession of silhouetted people walking, through a graveyard and into the burning remains of some kind of church like building, while an orange scrunched up cat sits on a post hissing at them... Is there something wrong with me if I had this dream as a kid and thought that it was a pretty image? Might I add that it was not a nightmare, just a normal dream... hope that doesn't make me sound demented, I swear I'm not!

Noooo of course you're not demented. This is beautiful and I don't blame younger you for thinking so. Man, I adore everything about this. The soft yet scraggly looking kitty fur, the curled posts holding the lights, the barren, hopeless looking background... beautiful! What do you think that dream might've meant? Or do you think it doesn't mean much at all, just a random image?

Thank you! And sorry my reply is so late, I haven't been on here in a while.
I'm not sure what it may have meant, I really don't remember anything else from the dream, just this one image. Though I've always had a love for creepy things and such, even at that age.

Ah, it's fine. That's understandable.
Maybe you could try and look up what it might mean? There are some dream-deciphering websites out there that seemed kinda cool when I checked them out. And I know that feeling, I have an affinity for creepy things as well. I have a cat skeleton on my dresser and a horse skeleton under my bed. And quite the variety of skulls. And one rabbit skin. And a bunch more stuff I don't feel like listing XD

For this one specific scene, I might be able to find something... seeing as it's all I can remember at all. Oh god, dude, I have a bunch of dead things too... two of the skulls I've actually given "cute counter-part" names to; "Kitty" the bob cat, and "Puppy" the wolf; I've got a rabbit head still rotting but it'll probably be named "Bunny"Β and get antlers attached to it to make it a jackalope skull XD Is it a full horse skeleton that you have?

No it's not the full skeleton, unfortunately... when my pappy first found out about my interests he told me about a horse that died on this lot he had a while back and we went and dug up as many bones as we could find. The skull wasn't intact. It made me sad. VnV The only full skeleton I have is of a cat.
I name some of my bones too, and refer to them by those names. My friends have grown accustomed to who they are. My favorite horse bone is named Susan, the cat skeleton is named Eternity, the bobcat skull is named Bob (oh my god I'll die if you guess where I came up with that), the coyote skull is named Fido, the housecat skull that doesn't have a body with it is named after Deadmau5's cat, Meowingtons, and I have two of the horse vertebrae that fit together that are named Leeroy and Jenkins. From the Leeroy Jenkins video (If you haven't seen it: www.youtube.com/watch?v=LkCNJR⦠)
I wish I had a rabbit skull. I don't have anything rabbit, except a skin I bought at some shop. It's soft though so I enjoy it.

Aw, that's too bad... We found a cow skeleton once but my mom wouldn't let us take it because it was on someone else's property... I doubt the guy whose cows/cow grazing land it was even knew it was there; it was huge plot of land and the cow was in the woods, obviously long-dead; probably killed by wolves or something. I really want to find a full skeleton of something and re-assemble it. I have a mockingbird rotting in a bucket of dirt, which I guess I can try with; but the bones will be so tiny.
Oh,yes, I know about Leroy Jenkins, lol. I actually considered naming my bob cat skull Bob, too; but I already had Puppy the wolf, so Kitty the bob cat seemed fitting. My friends are accustomed to Puppy and Kitty as well. Which led to confusion when we go a [live] cat who we also just refer to as "Kitty"; we had put a reminder note on our door saying "lock up Kitty" (because she had a tendency to get into stuff when we were gone); my friends' initial thought when seeing the note was "why do you need to lock up a skull?!"
I just found the rabbit head in the woods, it was very...fresh, and the rest of it was gone. Just lying there, being a severed head... almost humorously, in an awkwardly morbid sense XD

Yeah and see usually with tiny animals like that the thinner bones aren't actually bones but cartilage, and that rots away along with the flesh unless you treat it special (I don't know how it's supposed to be treated), which makes me really sad cause once my friend's kitten died and she gave it to me and I thought I was gonna have an itty bitty cat skull buuuut the skull was still mostly cartilage so it wasn't really "together" all that well Made me sad. Anyway speaking of "not on our property" a day or two ago my mom and I found a squished jackrabbit in the middle of the road and it looked like only its ass end got smashed so long story short she stopped the car in the middle of the road and I got out with a freaking Ziplock bag over my hand and scraped roadkill off the road xD I put it back though cause upon closer examination its head was crumpled and it was the skull I was after
Aawww! Puppy and Kitty. That's a cute combination of names. I don't have a wolf skull, but I want one... I tell you what though, a bear skull would be the bomb. And that's funny. xD Inanimate objects must be getting mischievous, hurhur. That reminds me of one time a little jar hanging from my ceiling started swinging around in circles on its own O_o My house is haunted I swear... or I have too many curious kitty spirits roaming in there...
Man, I want a rabbit something (<-- is why I got my mom to stop the car in the middle of the road so I could rake up carnage) but the only rabbit thing I have is a skin... a rabbit skull would be so nice. I'd paint it a pretty design. I wonder where the rest of the rabbit you found went? That reminds me of this scene from Phineas and Ferb: www.barnorama.com/wp-content/iβ¦

Really, the easiest way would be to bury with some insect that would strip the flesh quickly, and dig it up before the cartilage starts to decay too much, then let it dry, the bleach it for only a very short amount of time with well diluted bleach water, then let it dry again. Once cartilageΒ is dry and hardened it is very bone-like and won't continue to decay... I've literally spent hours removing cartilage from bones before.
Damn, I wish the rabbit's skull I have was a jack rabbit, it'd be giant and awesome and if I ever move again to somewhere that doesn't have monster rabbits, no one would believe that that it was a rabbit XD... I've tried to find one before; there have been a couple times that I'd hear them being killed by coyotes at night, then went searching in the morning, but never any luck :/
Lol, that's funny about the cow skull. Though I think finding the rabbit's head by itself is actually the first time I ever found just the head, usually it's the other way around... I find other parts of it but the head it gone O_o The rest of the rabbit was probably eaten...

Oh, sorry for the very very late comment but I just can't ignore this beautiful picture.
So, this is from a dream? I also use to draw my dreams (I always have weird dreams and believe me, there's nothing wrong with you). I think dreams are the best inspiration.
I love the composition, the colors are warm but they give me a eerie feeling. And I'm not an expert on anatomy but I think the cat's body is perfect. Plus, I love the sketchy style on it.
A wonderful picture!

Thank you very much!
Unfortunately most of my dreams end up being such blurs once I wake up that I can barely remember them; but this on just stuck for some reason.
I was probably only about 5 years old when I had this dream. I woke up from it, with the image still perfectly clear in my head, it gave me chills down my spine but I loved it and thought it was such pretty image. I grabbed my drawing stuff an went into bathroom to draw it (I couldn't turn my lights on because my parents would know I was awake, but there was a nightlight in the bathroom). Though I ended up not drawing it because my drawing skills then weren't good enough, and I didn't want to ruin the image. So I just kept it in the back of my mind, until a few years ago, I remembered it a really felt like drawing it.

I see.
That happens to me too, that's why I always carry a notebook to write all my ideas or dreams, or some piece of paper to just doodle it. Too bad I didn't do it when I was little, I can't remember my old dreams.
And you're welcome!

Holy crap, I had a dream like that... It was a little darker, and it was a park instead of a graveyard, but it looked a lot like that.
