Description Drequus are the equivalent of horses in the Elkmother universe.
Omnivorous, Drequus are opportunist meat-eaters and live in herds of 10 - 12 individuals on plains. Mostly their diet consists of foraged berries, fruit, roots and leaves. The average individual stands about 9 foot, measured to the top of the shoulder (withers.) They are surprisingly light for their size however, with most individuals weighing in at under 1 tonne. Drequus are intelligent, capable of learning vocal commands to an amazing degree. This is probably related to their extensive array of sounds they produce in the wild to communicate with one another.

Sexual dimorphism is not readily apparent; Both male and female look the same to the untrained eye. Males have slightly shorter thagomizers and horns than females do. It is the females primarily who fight for mates, but males have been known to squabble amongst themselves during season for the attentions of a female. Coupling is seasonal, the rut taking place in mid-autumn. The female gestates a clutch of 2-3 eggs, laying them 4 months after mating, incubating them for a further 21 days. Both parents share responsibilities of feeding and rearing the young.  Average life expectancy for a Drequus is around 150 years, but older individuals have been documented.
