Description
This art piece is for the Couples Contest on the StarTrek group. My Star Trek OC, Catherine Evergreen, is dancing with Data on the holodeck and the setting is in the Victorian era for Valentines Day. The reason Data is smiling in this picture is because Dr.Crusher advised him to smile and pretend he's having a good time dancing. I tried to draw a ballroom background but I thought it was too complicated to draw so instead I drew a moonlight background with a castle. As for Data's outfit it's based from the, "Times Arrow Part1-2" episode since I wanted it to be accurate towards the time setting.Art Style- Disney (c)

I like your OC! She's really pretty!Β IΒ likeΒ how you made Data's smile!Β Data's always trying to mimic humans, but when he does, it's so fake!

I'm glad you like her. I'm doing slight changes to her (skin color, rank, hair do, and background story). I think I made Data's smile more natural than fake which wasn't my intention I always get a laugh whenever Data mimics humans.

Why wouldn't I like her?
Β I see aΒ lot of people call her a Mary-Sue, but I don't see any Mary-Sue like qualities in her... Would you like to write a story together, sometime? I have four TNG OC's. Akamai, the android daughter of Data, Liz the human daughter of Data, Rebecca the daughter of Geordi, and Valerie the Vulcan.
And, who knows! Maybe Data's improved his mimicking smile! And, I also love it when he mimics humans!
Β He was even trying to sneeze in 'Datalore'!

"The reason Data is smiling in this picture is because Dr.Crusher advised him to smile and pretend he's having a good time dancing..." I giggled when I read that. This is a very lovely moment between Cathy and Data!

I glad you found that line humorous IK it's not in Data's nature to smile since he has no emotions but I do see him mimic facial expressions even if they are really exaggerated
I don't know if I might have mentioned this in the description or not but the part where I was referring to that line was from the ,"Data's Day", episode where Data takes dance lessons from Dr.Crusher so he can ballroom dance at O'brien and Keiko's wedding.

Awww that was so cute! Sorry it took me so long to watch this. Data trying to smile and accidentally stepping on Dr. Crusher's feet made me laugh!

That's ok I'm glad you liked the clip of Data accidentally stepping on Dr.Crusher. Have you seen Star Trek:Generations? In that movie Data starts doing a bunch of funny stuff

Ooh, I've only watched the first ten minutes or so of Generations (mainly just because I was screencapping Scotty and Chekov's scenes)... I'm a little hestitant to watch that one because I don't want to see Kirk die... but I'd like to see Data's funny scenes at any rate!
Maybe I can find some clips of them somewhere....

Oh my goodness, those were priceless! Thanks for sharing! I think the first was my favorite, with him singing, but the other two were good too... remembering a joke seven years ago, that's just like Data!

I'm so glad you enjoyedΒ the Data clips from Generations My favorite funny moments from Data would be the one where he sings and when he pushes Dr.Crusher off the boat
For some reason I feel like I can relate to Data and his struggle with humor because whenever I try to be humorous here's what usually happens:
a. nobody thinks it's funny
or
b. people misunderstand my jokes and think it's offensive
but when I don't intend to be funny people will laugh at things I say or do which just proves that I'm humorous when I least expect it

Do you feel that you can relate to Jimmy's Scotty character?

FeatherQuilt1988 In reply to LadyData [2013-11-06 16:47:08 +0000 UTC]
Hmmm, in some ways I do. I mainly think of myself more like Orin than like Scotty, but they do have things in common, so I guess that means I'm like Scotty too!
I can be very stubborn like him. And sometimes I think my sense of humor is similar to his. And although it's not shown that much in the show, I always imagine he likes to eat a lot, and I'm like that too!
π: 0 β©: 1
LadyData In reply to FeatherQuilt1988 [2013-11-10 03:59:54 +0000 UTC]
I'm glad you can relate with Scotty and apply a few of his characteristics to Orin I've seen Scotty's stubbornness but not so much his humor so I kind of don't remember his sense of humor too well
. When I first saw Scotty in the movie era I didn't recognize him too well since in the tv show he wasn't chubby and he didn't have a mustache until I heard his voice
" I always imagine he likes to eat a lot, and I'm like that too!" that's an interesting twist to Scotty's character

I kind of had the opposite experience--I first saw a few of the movies as a very small child, and when I first saw the TV show, I couldn't believe it was the same Scotty either! For sense of humor, I guess I just meant Scotty seems to enjoy a grin when he can get one--the main actual joke of his I can remember is him saying "Aye, and if my grandmother had wheels, she'd be a wagon!" when doubting the capabilities of the new Excelsior (in The Search for Spock). And heehee, yes, I guess I imagine he likes to eat because, well... I doubt he would have gotten his bigger tummy without eating much!

Thanks for telling me perhaps I should pay more attention to more Scotty moments in the show and the films It would be interesting if there was a deleted scene of Scotty eating to his heart's desire to celebrate the crews missionΒ
Maybe there could be a buffet in the cafeteria of the Enterprise. Correct me if I'm wrong but I'm not too familiar with the rooms on the original Enterprise. I only recognize the bridge, the recreation room, the corridors, personal quarters, and Sick Bay.

In the TOS TV era, there were just food replicators that made these weird multicolored food nuggets, but in The Undiscovered Country (the sixth movie), we got to see the Enterprise kitchens, and they had ovens and stoves, and some ensigns were carrying around real cooked turkeys and vegetables and things like that. Anyways, AWWWWW, Scotty eating to his heart's content after a successful mission... haha, that sounds so cute I'm probably going to have to draw that someday!
Thank you.

I really need to rewatch the TOS movies again since it's been a while since I've actually sat down and watched them. The food replicators sound familiar in the TOS show
You totally should BTW I had a random thought but while I was watching Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer I was imagining Scotty dressed up as Santa Claus while Orin is dressed up as an elf

AWWWW! I'll have to draw that sometime soon for this Christmas too! I'm trying to mainly stick to my "OTF" pictures for them until I'm through with the list, but I'll be making an exception for a Christmas picture, so I'll be able to post it in time!

Hmmm... actually,Β I don't think I do have a dinosaur ornament! I need to get one... some of my favorite ornaments we have on the tree are a pair of cuteΒ baby seals with bells on their necks, and a giraffe with ice-skates, and a big snowman hugging a little snowman.
