The rescue-ee is conscious and surprised to find out who his rescuer is! I’m going to try to squeeze one more MerMay pic in—it’s skipping ahead in this AU’s story but I like the concept so I’m gonna do it!

I'm actually really impressed by the ragged fraying of his sleeves! Aww and she looks quite demure. I often wondered if, in reality, mermaids would be able to communicate with people anyway...I mean who says they'd speak the same language?

I read a comic with Aquaman a while back that addressed one of those problems, like how sound travels further underwater so he would speak softly when on land.

Ah the underwater realm, I heard somewhere that fish click at one another, communicating that way, so Aquaman was probably very lonely (I don't know much about him to be fair, is he a mer creature or just a man whose powers are best suited for aquatic life?

I know there's a part in 'Splash' where the mermaid character is trying to learn how to speak and blows out a bunch of TV sets with her screeching (it's been a while since I've seen it though!)
I think he's part-human and part-Atlantean which would explain why he can survive on both land and water. I did some research on him when I drew him during Inktober last year and apparently there's several different Aquamen??

Luckily for Cornelia, I think, there will be no need for her to consult a sea witch who steals her voice, thanks to the fact Trenton really is able to see her, unlike Prince Eric....
I also like Cornelia's mermaid design, it's very vivid and original and the fish scales are such a fun feature!

Thanks! When I thought about participating in MerMay again this year I was going to reuse her old design but the idea to mesh a real fish with her seemed like it would be more visually arresting.
