Description
I designed and knitted this cute little purse for a swap partner for another website. The theme of the swap was "the Emerald City". The purse has cotton lining and a jeweled "emerald" button closure.

I chose the glasses design because in the original book (The Wonderful Wizard of Oz by L. Frank Baum) everyone who enters the city has to wear green glasses, supposedly to protect their eyes from the glitz of the city, but actually to turn the city green because it isn't any greener than any other city and the glasses are how the Wizard has convinced people the city is a city of emeralds. Later in the series the glasses are abandoned because the city really does become a fabulous city of emeralds, but in that first book, only the green lenses of the glasses make it green.
