Description
A new-to-me fall, tucked away close to falls that I've been to time and time again made for a fun Sunday afternoon. We kind of went here on a whim, and I'm glad we did. It was well worth the questionable drive down a seldom-traveled Forest Road 18 in Tucker County. This pretty little creek empties into the Blackwater Canyon below a series of falls and cascades.ΒThanks to Addam for the idea for the title, as he said he saw a butterfly in the swirls.

Thanks Matt! I'll have to show you this one. It's a nice little area with several drops, though the lower ones are somewhat questionable for me to reach. You could probably get to them, though.

Thank you, David.
The swirls are actually just foam in the water. The gold/brown color (which is, I assume, what made you think of pollen) comes from all the tannin in the water, which makes it look just like tea. Something about the chemical makeup of the water makes it foamy, kind of like when you shake up a bottle of tea! All the streams in that part of the state look just like this.Β
