Description Everis has been experiencing heavy rains for the past week. We have issued several flood warnings and provide information on how to keep yourself and your pets dry during the rain storm. We cannot determine at this time how long the rain will continue, please stay safe!

Our rangers are busy making sure the wildlife are safe and relatively dry. They are building numerous rain shelters all over Everis, as it seems the rain will not be stopping anytime soon. The few who have come back to the shelter for more supplies have reported odd sightings at the river. Due to flooding and the increased water being fed into the river, it has become a very dangerous area to traverse. But we are very curious to know what our rangers saw. Since they are busy we have decided to ask the residents of Everis to help us find out if the ranger's claims are true or just debris being swept down the river.

UPDATE!!

Thank you to all of our volunteers!
We have gathered enough information about these new creatures!

We will be giving the creatures to people out soon so keep an eye out!

Armed with a few tools you think will help you, you head off towards the river. You spend most of the day looking for a creature, pausing halfway through the day to make a mini camp and rest. Searching for hours after camping yields no results and you return home disappointedly. As you enter your home you strip off our heavy backpack and let it drop to the floor, jumping harshly when your backpack makes a loud noise of complaint at hitting the floor. Sufficiently startled, you slowly open your backpack and are immediately assaulted with loud argumentative ‘geckering’. It seems a creature crawled into your backpack during lunch…

You quickly take your whole backpack to the shelter, and explain what happened to the staff. The staff member chuckles at your story and accepts your backpack, telling you that they will give it back when the creature comes out. You go home, a smile on your face at having succeeded in ‘capturing’ a creature.
The next morning you get a call from the shelter asking you if you would like to come in and get your backpack. When you arrive the staff member explains that the creature you captured is actually rather young and very attached to your backpack. They ask you if you would like to keep the creature once they are done with medical exams and general care.

With a bucket in hand you head toward the river in search for the floating flowers. After a couple of hours of searching and no luck you finally spot a cluster stuck against a brush. You wade over to it intent on capturing it and notice that the flowers don’t look so good. The petals droop slightly and the leaves are pulled under the water by the harsh current and tug of the brush. Concerned you dip the bucket under the water and gently unsnag the creature from where it’s caught. The edge of the bucket keeps the current from taking it any further down the river and with the creature inside you wade back to the shore and head towards the shelter, hoping it’s not too late.
When you turn the creature over to the staff they thank you and take it to a room where you can’t follow. You pace with worry until another staff member asks if they can help you. Hastily you explain the situation of the poor creature you rescued and they nod understandingly and tell you that they’ll see what they can do, but for now its best to go home.
You return the next day to find the staff member you originally handed the creature over to and they smile when they see you. They tell you the creature is doing much better but will still take some time to be in good health. Seeing the relief on your face the staff member offers to put the creature in your care once it’s fully healthy again.

Once you are given confirmation you leave without realizing you didn't pick up any equipment. Once you are at the river you figure you might as well investigate anyway and brave the harsh currents since you don’t have to worry about getting wet. You are about waist deep when a flower comes floating toward you. You brace yourself for impact of the tiny flower and are surprised when it bumps gently against you and doesn’t do much else. You feel the part beneath the water brush against you but it doesn’t attack you. You spend a moment or two really examining the cluster of flowers and the leaves but make no move to pull it out of the water. After a while you let the water pull the flower along and make your way back to the shelter, certain that the flower creature was completely unperturbed by your presence.

With a plastic baggy in your hand you enter the river with the intention of bringing one of the flowers back to the shelter with you. It doesn’t take long to spot one and you move as quickly as you can to catch up to it and scoop it into the baggy! The creature barely reacts to being put in a container and you hold it proudly for a moment. As soon as you go to move your foot hits a rock under the water and you lurch forward, you lose your grip on the plant creature and dip under the water in the process. You return home completely soaked.

You excitedly head out, hoping to catch one of the creatures that has been spotted around the river. As you approach the river you notice one of the long furry creatures sitting on the bank with its front feet tucked under its body. It’s chattering sociably and doesn’t seem to notice that it is no longer floating on the water and you note that its back feet are squirming awkwardly behind it as if it were still paddling around. When the creature notices your presence perks and starts chattering more as though it were actually talking to you. It watches as you approach craning its neck up at you until you are practically towering over it. It’s larger than it looks when it’s in the water. When you reach down for it it doesn’t react except to indignantly “GACK” at you. Once it is in your arms it doesn’t seem to know what to do with itself and you use its confusion to your advantage to bring it back to the shelter and hand it over to a staff member. It “gack”s at the nice lady as well.

Tasked with the capture of one of these odd creatures, you wait for a flower cluster to float by before grabbing and pulling it out of the water successfully! The odd creature attached to the end of the flower flails rapidly and the sight of it startles you enough that you drop the whole thing back into the water. It seems carrying one home won’t be an option.
