Man that mare can jump! She's even got her rear feet off the ground! A really dynamic shot, great job!

this looks more like a courbette! (one of the "airs above the ground" the Lippizans of the Spanish riding School does)... with a normal rear she'd have her hind feet planted... unless she sort of just leaped forward out of the rear... either way, it's gorgeous!

Very lovely shot of this beautiful horse, and I do love the costume! Do you mind my asking, is that a Australian Stock Saddle that you use for your seat? Looks very comfy.
I own an aussie myself, and wondered what you thought of them.
I have a Percheron that looks very similar to a Friesian, but is considerably larger bodied...but he is lean in comparison to other Perchies.

How beautiful. A comment: Who ever is riding looks a bit stressed... Maybe try this shot again with the rider more relaxed looking, like it is natural...
Other than that... IT IS MARVELOUS! Where is this taken?

The rider is also the trainer. She always looks like that, even when she's on the ground. It's just how she looks.
Thank you though.
This was taken after a big parade in Fort Wayne Indiana.

holly cow!
this ain't just rearing, this horse seems to be performing one of the hardest moves that ever came out of the spanish riding school (aka Lipizanner's).
i might be wrong, but this seriously looks like a courbette, in whick the horse rears real high (higher than a levade) and "hops" forward using only it's rear legs.
it could also be the beginning of a capriolle in which, after rearing much like this, the horse would push it's hind legs well under the body, then kick back while flying. either way, a fantastic shot that i'll most certainly use, next time i find myself in need of a friesian!

You are very right. This little mare is trained to do a lot of neat moves and that was one of them!
Whatever the move is called where the horse rears, but stands in place for a second and then leaps up. That's the one she's doing!
