Description
It was a time of great celebration. The 3 Stables Inn was fuller then it had ever had been before. The beer was flowing freely. It was loud with chatter and laughter but no one minded. Bar maids flirted up a storm, the drunkest drunks were far drunker then they ever had been, and the sound of music flowed ever so slightly above the commotion. For this one time everyone was happy for one thing and one thing alone. Even those less fortunate couldn't help but smile. The dark times were over.In the corner a fellow music lover paused between songs. His normal list of music didn't quite fit the scene. He patted the side of his mandolin for a few beats then looked up at the crowd of smiling faces. It was a time of happiness and no halfhearted bar song would do. He placed his fingers atop the strings. He closed his eyes working out the opening in his mind before his fingers took over. A truly memorable opening and then the words came to his lips:
Listen well my fellow man
For a tale you shall soon demand
There is a place you wish to see
One beyond the seventh sea
One of monsters and rashness
One that should bring any to madness
A tale long told
If I may be bold
One of the greatest Paladin in history
A prodigal goblin of mystery
And a fellow master bard
If you wish to take my card
Many near him laughed at this last line, just like he intended. It was a simple rhyme and rhythm. It may have been an old song but was well received by those with a good sense of humor. Though some holy men raised some eyebrows in the corner but he ignored them.
Heading East to West Town they began
Headlong into adventure with less than a tin can
A sail mounted venders cart be their vessel
Deep in the weeded plains it be nestled
With a Captain good n' Stout
Laughing foolishly with a shout
The wind cast their sails with such power
As their wagon pushed on unsour
As they waited and sat in upholster
Their spoony bard was the best jokester
They laughed and cried merrily
Rum filled glasses terribly
When out came a furious sound
One that kept'em unbound
Our Bard, you see, knew
That if it began they be screwed
He was man of many talents and tricks
One that knew these deafening ticks
A sound like a loud sheik could only mean
A Land Shark was soon to be seen
A beast so destructive could not be matched
Except one faint chance that they could scratch
The sound was its song of death
Attacking by the end of its songs breath
Counter Song was their saving grace
As it kept the beast outside they're space
The Shark jumped and rang
Yet the Bard continually sang
Alarmed the Paladin called for canons
Sadly, Captain forgotten such weapons
Slipped his mind it did
Not that he was stupid
Rum was kept can't you see?
The singing Maiden of the sea!
He's right, so they continue
as not to be on the menu
Arrows were useless
So be magic continualness
The shark was much too strong
Even beating their friend's song
Closer it came to no avail
With no time to even bail.
It was this that they started throwing chairs
They weren't using them, so nobody cares
Shocked the shark froze up
Giving their Goblin time to hup
The Prodigal leapt from his corner
Attacking the Sharks sound former
Sadly, on his way he tripped
Sending lightning at its tails tip
Rage engulfed the beast greatly
And I'm not just being stately
Doomed was all they could think
Though our Paladin would reassure us with a wink
Still too drunk to plan
He tossed his Goblin into the frying pan
The Bard went into a glorious stringer
Ending the advancing death bringer
Their Goblin landed into a headfirst slide
When a second bolt flew from the sky
The land shark burst into flames completely
Ending their danger quite un-discreetly
A cheer rang out, they won
Rum all around just for fun
Celebrate they did for quite some time
Until our heroes came upon a thought quite sublime
Holy and timey was their quest, they agree
However, a rum marinated shark could be delicious, guaranteed
In pulling upon deck they thanked their Captain by name
But his name was Scott not Sparrows you nave!
However, in this train of thought our holy hero did wonder
Could working with a thief Captain remove his holy thunder?
More drink was needed Captain Scott did say
Erasing such thoughts is the best kind of way
They were his lucky charms he explained
Surely his noble quest, though twisted, has remained
Agreed again they did and drank to the Captain's health
Two days till port and then some wealth.
