Description
Deb jumped in her seat of the car, "What the hell happened!? We were sitting around and then we're here…?"Dr. A leaned over from her seat nearly leaning on Deb's shoulder, Dr. A looked up at her with a huge grin. "It was a scene transition. It's a device writers use when they can't figure out how to get from one location to another without it bogging down the overall plot. It happens."
"What'cha talking about? We made the plan, we got in the car, and we're driving to the book store." Commented Jimmy attaching the drum barrel to his Tommy gun.
Dr. A nudged Deb with her head, "Story characters don't experience it or care enough to comment. Besides you and I will be experiencing more problems than they will anyway because of our perspective."
"I don't care. Holy shit you talk WAY too much. Let's just get the fuk'n job done." Deb said shoving Dr. A away. The Doctor frowned, sighed, and starred out the window.
Chad, a darkly dressed yet handsome looking 'vampire', sat at the wheel cruising through the empty streets. The world around them was slowly getting darker the more their car continued into the city. Smog and vapor rose from various crevasses in the street. The clouds in the sky were warped and twisted as if it couldn't decide what time of day it was or if a hurricane was forming or not. The air around them was flimsy and scratched as if the air itself would just fall around them. A few doors or windows were missing from buildings and even whole blocks were missing, with nothing but a black space where it should be. Several street lamps had fallen over long ago but no one seemed to mind. The few people in the streets only stood there content with being nothing more than part of the background. So much was going on and yet so little. It was as if the city knew it was dying and just gave up hope.
Deb took a few glances at the others in the car. Jimmyshifted in his seat taking hold of the moon roof's hatch, Chad sat in the driver's seat preparing for a steady grip on the wheel and then she returned her gaze to the sickly Doctor next to her. "What happened?" she asked
Dr. A started to speak but coughed a little. When she had it under control she raised a purple eyebrow, "Scientific curiosity!"
Before Deb could say more the car swerved to the side, Jimmy popped out of the moon roof with his Tommy gun and as the car skitted to a halt Jimmy opened up a blaze of fire upon the unsuspecting guards. Holes littered the area with quick and powerful blasts that everything in sight just dripped red in seconds.
Dr. A pushed up passed Deb and pressed against the window, "Excell-"
Before she could continue a large figure exited the shop. Jimmy aimed and fired without hesitation. Yet the figure only stumbled back a step. It's armor was large and heavy. When Jimmy's blaze of fire ended the figure raised it's arms and at the ends were red hot cyliders beginning to glow.
"Nothing in this life matters." Commented Chad as the white intensity flashed flames of directed heat. Dr. A returned to her seat pulled out a pen and twisted the end. The car burst into flames just as the passengers rocketed out uncontrollably. The car exploded sending molten metal in every direction.
Deb pulled herself from the pavement, "Fuck, fuck, god damn it fuck." Her arm burned and her head spun. As she raised her eyes to the armored man she saw Greta grab the guard from behind, lifting it and bending backwards smashing the armored guard's head into the sidewalk. It yelped but didn't seem to get back up.
Great saw Deb and helped her on her feet, "So sorry I'm late," she said in a hush, "Here, let me help you bandage this up." She took Deb's arm and some cloth and wrapped her arm up before Deb could say anything.
"uh, thanks." Deb said pulling her arm away. "I got it."
"You dolls coming or what?" yelled Jimmy, keeping Dr. A on her feet. "If ya doen holding hands we've got a job ta do."
Chad walked out of the car's smoldering wreckage, seemingly fine. He opened the door and waited for the others. As they slipped in, he stood at the front of them with his large muscular body. The store inside was what anyone expected. It was a store for books. Shelves of books lay along the walls and had several aisles of every book any of them could imagine. It was quiet.
Jimmy slammed the door behind them and latched it shut, "Alright. What now all great one? We're in."
Dr. A looked about the store, "Uh, not too sure."
Chad stopped and looked at her at a sideways glance, "Hm?" as if to ask 'what do you mean not too sure?'
Dr. A's face started to turn red a bit but merely made her bruises look twice as worse, "I kinda thought there'd be a back door or something."
Deb face palmed, "What was your plan to begin with!?"
Dr. A shrugged, "This. Being here was my plan and then a door maybe…I think. In hindsight, not one of my better plans."
"You think?" Deb growled.
Jimmy chuckled, "Beautiful. Just Beautiful. Dolls like you only come around once ina blue moon."
"Now, now." Greta whispered, "She did put a lot of effort into this."
BLAM! The shelves suddenly burst apart and a rip shredded though the air destroying everything around it. Paper and wood flew and then froze mid fall. Inside the rip was a hallway with doors every few feet and an elevator at the far end.
Dr. A turned to her dumbstruck companions, "Ready? Here we go!" She yelled jumping straight though the rip and a limped sprint down the hallway.
At the entrance to room 17b on the 12th floor two guards stood silently waiting. At first they stood, as they were told, quietly and alert but that was hours ago. By this point it felt like nothing was going to steal their Boss' intel. For the first time ever on of them spoke and new light dawned on them both, "You ever wonder why we're here?"
The second chuckled, "That's one of life's great mysteries isn't it?"
It could have begun a whole new tale between these two. Ideas and new found strength had entered their lives. A quest of self-discovery though comedic satire could fill their empty lives but before another word could be said the first Guard flashed and fell to dust.
The second guard raised his weapon but burst into the same flash and fell to dust. No alarm went off as it also had been turned to dust. The door keeping the intel flashed and then the intel. Nothing meant anything anymore.
"STOP!" yelled a Doctor. The gentleman across from her looked to her but she couldn't quite focus on who he was.
"Yeah what Dr. Amy said." a man in a white lab coat said, holding a bulky device, "Your reign of destruction ends here Indescribable man!"
"Exactly! You will pay what you did to my world and all the others." Commented a third, standing behind Dr. Amy.
The gentleman walked towards them, It was written and so it shall be. They knew what he said but no tone of voice came from him nor sound but they just knew.
Dr. Amy took pulled a giant hammer from her coat, "This time you won't escape us!" She charged without a worry aiming for the gentleman's head but with just the wave of his hand Dr. Amy flashed and turned to dust.
"NO!" Yelled the male Doctor, "He switched on the device and a ray of purple space shot at the gentleman and froze him in his tracks. "Ah HA! I knew creating an infinity time/space generator would trap him in an endless environment."
The third one stepped back, "Dr. Awesome. Look!"
As he did he saw the Gentleman was not only moving toward him but his device was having no effect. "I don't understand." He gulped, "It should have…RUN PROF-!"
But dust was all that's left of him. The Prof shook, her eyes widened, and with a click of her heels she jet booted off down the corridor.
This story has no purpose. Thus the world is lost as I was charged to do.
