Description
International Target Airport, Terminal A:8:30am
Shane stepped from the aircraft with a certain sense of calmness. The flight had gone well; no headaches, no motion sickness, and, most importantly, no technical difficulties. The weather was predicted to be cloudy with strong winds by the time the plane touched down in the International Airport. However, as he walked the outstretched hallway to the waiting area, he glanced outside; not a cloud was in the sky.
As he stepped out onto the main terminal he placed a cigaret in his mouth. Just as he reached in his pocket for a lighter a man's voice caught his attention, "You know you can't light that here."
Shane nodded, leaving the lighter in his pocket, "Too true, too true. As soon as I can I will though. You can't get keep a good man down!" Shane paused for a moment then, as if just thinking of it on the spot asked, "How have you been Rex?"
The man known as Rex Sa walked with Shane down the Terminal. Countless people grouped, shoved, and passed by in a hurry. People yelled, called out, and children screamed as the daily lives of travelers moved on. A few carts sped by taking people to their destinations faster, most likely people who were too lazy to walk.
Shane and Rex stepped onto a moving platform, taking them across the terminal without any real effort. In a sense an even more lazy way to travel as it went no faster then if they walked.
Rex sighed, holding a small bag over his shoulder, "We're not friends Shane. Do you know how long I've been waiting here?"
Shane raised his hands up in defense, "I can't help the delays buddy boy. Besides, we would have had to wait anyway. In a sense we've gained time." He chuckled to himself about the cleaver comment he thought he made, wiggling the cigaret up and down in his mouth.
Rex's face showed no amusement by the comment, "I'm not interested in you Shane. You're nothing more then a middle man. I want your boss. Where is he?"
Shane sighed, "Not here. He sent me in his place. Just because you talked to him doesn't mean he trusts you Rex," Shane then smiled, "Come on after what happened in Romania I can't say I blame him. Switching sides right in the middle of the conflict?"
Rex placed his hand on Shane's shoulder. To anyone watching it would have looked like just a nice jester, two guys having a heart to heart. In reality his hand was placed just over a pressure point and his grip was tight. In other words, Shane was not in a very comfortable position, "Very well. I'll play this game for a little longer. So tell me who are we waiting for?"
Shane tried to move out of Rex's grip, "Hollis. His name is Hollis." Rex let go of his shoulder, after Shane moved his arm around he continued, "He's our muscle for the operation."
Rex raised an eyebrow, "Muscle? He better be good. A nit wit could critically cripple us."
Noticing the end of the moving walkway, Shane prepared for the step onto the carpeted floor, "He is. No worries. I gotcha ya covered Rexy boy. Have I ever lied to you before?"
Rex didn't say anything.
