Over 1000 cuts, 4000 welds, 3 crates, 2,400 miles later... This bohemoth is done. Each panel is between 3-5 feet wide and 50-80 pounds. The color behind each panel is paint that was applied after the install.

Assembled over 5 weeks in Seattle, and installed in Cleveland, Oh in 3 days above death stairs. I'm happy to report of no injuries from this piece.

Made from 1/4" square stock.

I find this so creative and inspirational. I wouldn't even know how to begin a piece like this. It's a wonder to look at.

There is no way I could've fit that in my place. It's installed in my parents' place. It's huge! Thanks man. I'm quite pleased with how it turned out!

All I have to say from a fabricator's point of view is that is freakin' amazing patience work, must've been a bitch to weld. It's also a beautiful piece of art. I want to run my fingers over it and have it feel like water - it's so fluid!

Thanks very much! And yes. Tedious indeeeeed! But the results are worth it. Very tactile. And I must say, I am very glad that it's done!

Wow iLan those turned out really great. I like the color on the walls. I was wondering how you were going to present them and I think this is a great idea.

Thanks. It took some convincing to get my parents to agree to leave the metal raw, and I think it looks much better because of that. It also transitions nice between the teal wall to their left, and the pink wall to their right, which was a bit harsh.

Thanks! No worries. I know exactly what that's like, as soon as you fall behind just a little bit, it gets so overwhelming to try to catch back up! Congrats on the future addition! How exciting?!

How was it secured to the wall?

LaughingTree In reply to ubu [2008-04-29 22:48:09 +0000 UTC]

Secured to the studs with Lag screws. 4 screws per panel. Actually ended up being quite sturdy! But was a pain because the studs in that wall are all over the place, so I had to devise a system that left plenty of room for adjustment!
