I highly enjoyed Mockingjay and thought it was significant that Katniss kept an inventory of her belongings at different points in the novel. They include: the hunting jacket, the family plant book (turned to the page for the katniss plant, illustrated by Peeta), her parents' wedding picture, a silver parachute, the locket with pictures of Gale, Prim and Mrs. Everdeen, the Mockingjay pin, the spile and the pearl. All these souvenirs are great symbols for the series and what's great is that they all mean something to Katniss and help her get through an extremely dark time.Painted in Acrylic

The parachute is from the second Games in Catching Fire-- she saved it when it came with the spile.

I personally hate drawing still life. Mainly because I get frustrated with boredom. But, THIS... This is great! I can appreciate a good still life when I see it and this is good.

Thanks! Still lifes can be very fun, if you choose the right subject matter and if you enjoy trying to capture textures. I like them because it's something I'm painting that's right in front of my face. I have more of a connection with the objects. And with this Mockingjay still life, I literally had all of these objects sitting in front of me. Everything except the spile, which I used a silver pen in place of.

Maybe that's what my problem with still life is. I'm usually given a pile of random objects to draw and I'm never happy with how my drawings or paintings turn out because I never get to choose my subject. Unless I'm drawing landscapes. I suppose that's a different subject all together though. ^_^
