My take on the miner Superman villainess from DC Comics, Rampage.

A brilliant but timid scientist from STAR Labs, Karen "Kitty" Lou Faulkner research was in the development of solar powered technology. So much so that she was co-scientist on developing a bio-energy actualizer. A means to harness solar rays into causing stimulation in growth and healing within a biological body. However, because of her timid nature, she ended up being pushed around and treated more like an assistant by her co-scientist Doctor Tom Moyers. Moyers would constantly order her about and insult her like she had very little value. Kitty was enraged by this, but she was too meek to actually stand up to him. Something she truly wished she could actually do. When the daily Planet came around to do an interview, Kitty was able to take the lead. Showing the ace reporter Lois Lane around while also stating the benefits of the actualizer can bring. Over hearing this, Moyers was not liking Kitty's sudden confidence. So to demonstrate that her work wasn't as great as it was, he simulated a power surge via a removing the natural power restrictors on the actualizer battery. Resulting in both Lois and Kitty to be trapped in the same room as the battery when the lockdown protocol started. As the two tried to escape the room, the actualizer experiencing a power flux as the power down procedure was starting. Resulting in an explosion that Kitty was caught in as Superman came in to save them and shielded Lois. Kitty was lucky to still be alive after that, so much so, the doctors said that she was in perfect health, even her eye sight was somehow corrected and allowed her to not need glasses. The energy she felt was intoxicating as she began to do several physical activities. All the while basking in the warm sunlight. Growing stronger, bigger, and assertive. So assertive, that she was starting to scare everyone. When Hamilton brought Moyers over to her home after discovering he caused the accident in the first place, they were both in disbelief at what they saw. In the backyard working out was Kitty, now a 10 foot tall red headed juggernaut. Having a very ominous scowl on her face. When questioned of what happened, Karen aggressively told them that she didn't care as not only was she bigger physically, but was now confident enough to not let anyone push her around ever again. Accumulating in her almost assaulting Moyers as she ranted about how much he belittled her. Eventually actually trying to when Hamilton blurted out that Moyer was the one that caused the accident. She began to go on a rampage to destroy Moyer, no longer thinking rationally, only acting on pure aggression. A problem that Superman had when try to stop and reason with her. Once Hamilton figured out that Karen's cell were being energized and metabolizing the sun's solar radiation, superman was quick to make the battle drag on for several hours in a place free on bystanders. Causing her to burn out all her energy just as dawn was approaching. Since then, Karen has taken great steps to stay out of the natural sun light as much as possible, not wishing to become Rampage ever again.
