Description w futuristic gun design I started on this morning.

Its the Qappa Conventional Shell - Gauss Coil Hybrid Rifle, or the CSGC for short.

The CSGC is a weapon that shoots conventional gun powder bullet shells, with assisted acceleration from gauss coils.

The battery and electrical componants are in the stock and area above the grip, and inside the grip is a tactical computer, with GPS and SmartSoldier tools, like battlefield comm and user identity recognition.

Due to the gauss component, the guns are incredibly lethal and effective, and the user can tune them to his liking by adjusting the power exhausted in each shot by the coils, but that costs battery life.

It comes in 3 variants, with seperate calibres and gauss coil sizes.

CS-GC Marksman-
- .408 Caliber
- Muzzle velocity: 6,600 fps
- Battery is good for around 200 shots with proper
- Clip: 15
- Effective range up to 1 mile, maximum at 2.5 miles

This beast of a rifle takes full use of the Gauss coils. With a large battery and a precise custom .408 sabot round it can accurately power a bullet to lengths of up to a mile, though the scope would definitely not permit that, more powerful ones can be attached.

Due to its assault design, it can shoot full auto, though that is not recommended or practical, as it can wear out he battery and effectively tear apart the gun, 2 shot burst is recommended.

The extended stock and barrel shroud house an extra large battery and a longer gauss coil, for maximum lethality at long range

CS-GC SAW
- 7.62 mm
- Muzzle velocity: 4,200 fps
- Battery good for around 700 shots
- Clip: 100
- Effective range up to 2420 feet, maximum at a 4000+ feet

The Squad Automatic modulation of the CS-GC. This gun comes packed with a longer barrel that extends past the Gauss Barrel shroud unlike the two others. This gun has the same size battery as the Marksmen, but the Gauss coil is half the size. The major drawback to using this gun is that the battery needs to be quickly switched every 7 clips or so, even though its a big battery, the nature of the weapon which includes long bursts of fire wears it out fast. The gun can still function as a standard weapon if the Gauss power cuts out before the clip is finished.

CS-GC Carbine
- 7.62 mm
- Muzzle velocity: 3,700 fps
- Battery good for around 800 shots
- Clip: 20
- Effective range up to 3040 feet, maximum at a 4000+ feet

This is a compact ranged assault rifle that is accurate and because of the large muzzle velocity, bullets can pierce cover and armor. The only drawback is the battery can run out fast, so extras can be carried with the soldier for a quick switch on the battle field, if the user doesn't have one, he can still use the weapon without the gauss portion powered up, but the preformance is cut drastically; To the point of your average assault rifle (Im not complaining)

Can you say serious recoil? A .308 is not exactly light, coupled with the added force from the electromagnetic acceleration...let's just say you aren't going to be firing this on automatic and while in any position but prone. Also, for this to work, the rounds HAVE to be ferrous to some extent. If it were a rail gun, that wouldn't be necessary, but since this is a coil gun, it is a requirement. To withstand the heat and physical forces, the bullet would also have to be hardened, so at this point you are breeching regulations by using AP rounds on non-hardened targets.

Where's the power source for the electromagnetic coils located? Is it external or is it a high-tech capacitor bank that can store several shots worth of juice? I guarantee a battery in the stock like you have there will not work. Even if it could, you wouldn't get more than a single round off with it.

Now, my realistic nit-picking aside, these guns look damn sexy if I do say so myself. Normally I'm not into the modern look of guns, but these I can make an exception for.

P.S. I think you switched the calibres on the Marksman and SAW...Marksman is supposed to be .50, not .308, right?

P.P.S. Because I'm a nitpicking ass: magasine = reservoir for bullets, clip = device used to load bullets into magasine.

1) yea the bullets are sized like .308 but thier special, first of their made of universal magnetic alloys and also the gun powder contains special chemicals that expand ferociously when exposed to a high powered magnetic field, adding to the normal expension of hot gas that speeds up bullets, also this weapon is a futuristic weapon, soldiers have slim power suits that provide enhanced motor skills and brute strength, along with being rather heavy which diminishes recoil

2) agian its in the future, so read it again and whenever i say battery, replace it with power source

3) thanks man i can say the same about your designs

4) yea the .50 light machine gun rounds are diffrent then 50 calibre bmg rounds, veryyyy diffrent. the only similarity is thier both the same thickness

5) that always gets me

thanks for looking at this man

I'm a firearms guru, so I love it when someone draws up their own gun concepts.

I'mma be watchin' for more.

you could use a bulpup config on the carbine to compensate for loss in barrel length?

no its unessisary because of the gauss component

fair does just though it may help for that little extra accuracy

*drooels* gauss

can i ask exatly the general procces you go through when designing these as they are well presented?

like why i desgined them

no reason

the program i used the enitre time (presentation and all) is keynote, basiccly apple powerpoint

it sounds wierd but it contians a great vectoring thing built in that im used to using
