Mass Effect a is a sad memory over all (I'm looking at you, ME3), but Shepard will always be probably the most important woman in video games for me. Before Mass Effect, the concept of making the custom main character a woman did not even occur to me as an option. Ever since this game, it has basically become default. In fact, the ability to do so has become an important selling point of any game for me. The woman you see before you with the MK1 Widow in her hands is the one to thank for that.

You can fight like a Krogan, run like a leopard, but you'll never be better than commander Shepard.
