Description
Hi!I've been watching some great cartoons from the 30s so I wanted to try this old school style. I've taken reference from works by Pat Sullivan, E. C. Segar, the Fleischer bros, Bill Nolan and others. It's interesting to take a look at those animations and see what was the basis for modern cartoons.
I think that drawing cartoons is basically making graphic representations of stereotypes, using simplified forms. There are two stereotypes that are very challenging for me: "super heroes" and "pretty girls". That's why there are lots of them in my gallery. I feel that if I can draw them, I can draw "anything". Obviously it isn't totally true. But it doesn't matter.
So I chose Cap Marvel to try this new old style and I hope you like it.
Cheers!

Ficou muito bem! Eu nunca li nada do Captain Marvel, mas gosto bastante do aspecto do personagem. E acho que ele fica demais nesse estilo retro que experimentaste

Obrigado!

Actually I feel the same way.
Throughout my time in college I drew cartoony characters, but always tried to make realistic people for my superhero characters or series involving girls. I always thought people would want to see that in a realistic fashion.
When I later found out that people wouldn't mind seeing my superheroes and women in a cartoony style. Heck, it was heavily encouraged.

So you know what I mean.
I think that both stereotypes are difficult to cartoonize because usually they aren't associated with funny ideas. When you think of a funny character, you imagine something like a short, fat, bald, goofy guy with a big nose and a stupid look in his eyes... But heroes have no fails, they're serious and good looking. It's difficult to translate them into a visual style that works for humour. But it isn't impossible. Ralph Bakshi did it very well with Mighty Mouse and Bruce Timm's style fits perfectly the DC super heroes universe.

De nada! Sempre achei legal e diferente o jeito que eles desenhavam esses olhos! Se eu nΓ£o me engano, nos primeiros desenhos do Mickey ele tinha esses olhos de "feijΓ΅eszinhos"!
