I always thought that it was weird that those characters from fighting games used to eat things from trash cans and barrels to improve energy points. I mean, it doesn't make sense. It should reduce the energy for causing bowel infection or something.

For me, a samurai's head coming back from the dead and inflating itself to a humongous size to fight off invading aliens who brainwashed mankind and turned it into zombies and brought the Statue of Liberty to life as it's minion is still a better example of video game weirdness

At least Streets of Rage did it right with the placement of its meat items it the game. They place them anywhere but in garbage cans, heck, they even give you food serve in fancy trays in the final stage if it doesn't run you over first.

Entendo eles usarem a figura de uma refeição como um símbolo para algo que recobra o life do personagem, mas é muito tosco ver eles pegando de um barril no meio da rua! hahaha! Mais interessante é que quase todos os jogos de luta da época tinham isso. Muito bizarro, mas de certa forma engraçado.

I remembered asking a friend of mine about this back in the day ... seemed that I got odd looks from the fan boyos. I just smiled and asked them if they would do that. "If it gave me power, sure." I remembered making a face.
Later ... we got back to college and found out we were having chicken for dinner. I ate out.
