Description WE ARE OUR OWN SEASONS
by Shane Ramey

As with Spring, comes beauty’s re-birth,
New life grows within us,
We see splendor bloom in the world again,
All seems vibrant and fresh.

The icy paths we took have melted,
The endured coldness is forgotten,
The chill is no longer felt,
There is only blessed warmth.

As with Summer, the beauty flourishes,
The light of day is at its brightest,
The cloth that contains us is shed,
We run about joyful and carefree

Life is so full again,
We dance together on the grass,
Laughing and making memories,
All pain is soothed by a gentle heat.

As with Autumn, a new beauty comes,
It does not bring life, but foretells death,
We watch the colors change one final time,
And try to grasp onto what is left.

We feel the winds of transformation again,
Warning us that the cold will return,
We try to ignore it, remembering former glee,
But the cycle cannot be prevented.

As with Winter, the beauty has passed away,
We hide away from one another,
Only finding warmth in our own little huts,
We hibernate and dream of what once was.

The paths have become icy again,
The coldness is remembered,
The chill is once more felt,
There is only cursed frost.

As with the Seasons, the beauty comes and goes,
We must wait for a chance to find life again,
We must anticipate such life being taken away,
We must accept the cycle as a whole.
Our Spring has to be praised,
Our Summer has to be embraced,
Our Autumn has to be realized,
Our Winter has to be survived.

For we are our own Seasons.
