Small update here, but added a layer count for those that are interested.*Did you know emotes are incredibly resistant to heat?
Seriously, though.
I primarily made this for =TheRockster s BIG Emote Contest . I was sitting there, thinking of what I could possibly make as an entry, when suddenly I remembered something...
A few nights ago, I had this dream that I got an assignment for class where I had to make a volcano somehow, and I obviously wanted to make it using pixel art. So what did I do? I ofcourse decided to grab that dream and make an actual emote out of it.
Now, there are a lot of things in here that I'm not too happy with and things that didn't end up even near to what I wanted it to, especially the super crappy lava, the horrible shading on the actual volcano, and the animation of the emote, but I think this is as good as I'm going to have patience with making it...

And yet, the stunning pixeling on all three subjects, simple yet effective lava animation, gentle bobbing of both characters, and lovable expressions combine together to create a piece too wonderful to ignore.
One thing I did notice that seemed a tad off was the lack of perspective change when it came to the mouth moving up and down. But that would have called for an intense amount of creativity and detail that I don't think any emoticonist or pixel artist on dA would care to plunge into.
Just as I was hitting the Send button, I realized that the lava colors change! Excellent touch, it creates a nice illusion of constant flow, rather than animation loop. The one thing I might see would be more frames for the drops of lava falling down to the volcano, but it's already amazing.

This is truly one of the best emoticons of all time if not THE best. The animation to my eye is flawless. I can stare at this for hours and not get bored.
Besides the smooth animation and the epic hugeness of this deviation, the best part has to be the faces.
I'm sure I'm speaking for everyone when I say that the faces on this piece is enough to make anyone's day. Not only is this piece super cute, but it's just fun to look at.

Amazing bit of animation my friend. i would never be able to make something as great as this. the amount of movement and all those pixels must of taken a huge amount of time. i myself could never make something as great as this (mainly because i haven't the time, nor the patients, or the programs for that matter) as i look closer i see the rocks from the volcano going upwards and just looking at the sheer amount of pixels makes my eyes hurt. it's a job well done. i also like how the lighting stays in the same place of course that's simple with layers (thank you who ever created layers) i adore this and it's a definite favourite from me.

The actual volcano looks very impressive. Especially the way it streches and shrinks which is just perfectly animated.

first of all ,As always !! i can tell you, you've definitely done an amazing job man.
brilliant idea, decent work, well put. It's rare to see such a creative work with such a size ,nowadays.
i guess you put so much effort to make a spectacular enjoyable animation, work like this one. it's clearly seen.
the volcano's animation is totally great, and smooth as well .
and the magma's too, well done bro.
the actual volcano's shell seems to be like a long hair, or a tree's bottom . that's probably because of the (kind of straight) lines ,or the brown colors on it ,you should darken its bottom.

but it's just a good vision for a cartoony volcano.
the magma's colors really fit,but it'd be better if they were brighter ,especially at the edges. because they are lavas ,not fire .
the magma's top part (which touches the emote) seems to be cut apart ,due to its shading , it's a bit off the burst magma. And the rests should fly away (upward) ,not fall down.
but it's an amazing furious brust magma
also one thing, you forgot to add the neon lights/effects (resultant from the magmas) to both of the orifice and the emote's bottom.
