Description
This piece was recently commissioned by *LadyJazyman . She requested something similar to Cat Change I and provided a variety of stock images for me to work with. I ended up choosing to work with a wonderful shot of the model looking in the mirror similar to Unfamiliar Reflection .I had a lot of fun with this piece. The model's expression was perfect and her features were very easy to work with. I really felt like I was manipulating two people in this particular photo. I wanted to make sure that the changes I made to the model's reflection matched the changes actually happening to her. The biggest challenge for me was the ear in the foreground. That particular perspective is very difficult when trying to make an ear look pointed. I am, however, happy with how it turned out.
The model's eyes are larger and more almond shaped. Her irises are now green and her pupils are cat-like. The bridge of her nose is wider and the tip of her nose is flatter, pinker and has a rough texture on it (although that may be difficult to see at this resolution). Her ears are pointed. Hairs and whiskers are growing on her cheeks, upper lip, and eyebrows.
I also made changes to the model's hands. Claws are growing from each of her fingers and her thumb has grown short and stubby.
The stock image was provided by .
Done using photoshop 7.0.

If I were to give you a shot... would you cost me if you made it into a cat?

SO. FREAKING. COOL.
I've always thought transformation was a really interesting concept.. just the thought of having to adjust to life as something or someone else has always fascinated me. So many creative possibilities. It's amazing how realistic you've made this look.. and her expression as she sees herself changing is just perfect! You're now one of my favourite artists on here.

not quite as good as the previous, although that might be because of the stud. also, the whiskers don't quite look right. as usual, the nose is amazing, the eyes look authentic, and the ears are just right. the best bit is, without a doubt, the stubby hand and the curvy nails. please make another!

The expression isn't quite the same as the previous one. I'm glad you like the edits though!

Finding this image was quite a "what the hell??" moment for me. But I have to say that it's very well executed and the subitly is beautiful. I'm generally not a fan of digitally alterted photos (outside of the type of effects that one can achive in a darkroom) but your work is very innovative and well executed, with this particular image being the one that struck me the most.

"bizarre"? I've seen bizarre, and your work, while is not "mainstream", is by no means "bizzare." I'd use "leading edge" or "emergent style" long before I'd use "bizzare" to describe your artistry.

Actually, this just suddenly reminded me of a short story of mine about a man with massive hippocampal damage... Every morning, he wakes up, looks in the mirror, and doesn't recognize his own face. Of course, I've got more stories about transformation that this should remind me of more, but the particular shock was what got to me.
By the way, while I'm here rambling, your work is wonderful. I'm a big fan of transformation in any media (unfortunately, none of the transformation stories I've written have been typed up), and you capture it wonderfully. I'm too awed to comment on most of your work, unfortunately... I get intimidated by such skill.
