I find Link is quite shy, to be honest. But he doesnβt ever show it, because of being quite expressive in most games. However I do agree on this, and I think deep thinking is good.

It seems to be implied that that is also a reason. Or at least that the situation made him shy.Β
"When I finally got around to asking why he's so quiet all the time, I could tell it was difficult for him to say. But he did. With so much at stake, and so many eyes upon him, he feels it necessary to stay strong and to silently bear any burden. A feeling I know all too well... For him, it has caused him to stop outwardly expressing his thoughts and feelings."

True, but while his shyness is a consequence to his burden in English, it is applied to be the main reason in German.
It's way deeper and more dramatic in English.
I went around looking for the original Germant text and here it is:
"Als ich letztlich gefragt habe, warum er immer schweigt, ist ihm die Antwort schwer gefallen. Es stellte sich heraus, dass es SchΓΌchternheit war. Er glaubte, er kΓΆnne den Anforderungen nicht gerecht werden."
it literally translates into:
"When I finally got around to asking why he's so quiet all the time, it was difficult for him to say. It turned out that it was shyness. He thought he couldn't make the grade."
(I didn't but anything, this part is only two sentences in German...)

Saying "he thought he didn't make the grade" could also just be another way of saying the same thing that's said in the english translation.
Not so much as "he doesn't think highly of himself, he is a shy boy"
as it could be "He is hesitant to say anything because it might not be good enough to the standard he is presented" seeing as he has such a burden, as saving the whole world
kinda like.. he doesn't want to say the wrong thing, seeing as he is supposed to be a hero. Anything he says could go against what someone else thinks, and they could hate him or think poorly of him. Or it could be seen as complaining, or stuck up, or any range of things.
So he feels it's best to keep quiet, and do the task he has set for him, no matter what.
Either way, translations probably won't ever be 100% accurate, seeing as there can be multiple ways to interpret the same line of something in another language. Especially pertaining to feelings and the like.
But I accept Link as being a stressed lil shy boy who just wants to help everyone. xD

That's true, I still wish they had translated it differently. I read the English text in a tumblr post before I found Zelda's diary myself, thus I think I was just expecting a bit more of it than simply these two vague lines of text
I feel sorry for Link in that game. I tend on saying Link is always a poor fellow for what happens to him in any Zelda game, but I think BotW Link has even a harder life than the rest. He has already failed once and everybody keeps telling him, but he can't even remember. And I'm sure people's expectations are still as high as 100 years ago.
