Description
Videogames have some out-of-this-world descriptions for some of their items. Some seem so random, but it might be based off of some mythology that I'm not aware of.Better suspend your disbelief. It's a game after all.

wild chansey's can hold them, the japanese name for chansey is "Lucky" so it's literally a "lucky egg"

Chansey. Chancy. (They're very rare as in chance)
Blissey. Bliss (As in happy; Blisseys make poeple happy)
Yeah I hate puns too

Well, Lucky Egg kinda makes sense in that it's associated with Chansey, a PokΓ©mon that exudes happiness. Perhaps the egg amplifies the optimistic euphoria of winning?

The Shell Bell is probably one of the worst recovery items, anyway. It does horribly even with multi-hit moves.

agreed... tried to use it, a LOT, and never saw it fit in any enviroment, not even to heal up recoil damage...

Clearly this shell is brought to you by the dark forces that brought you Ursula's voice-snatching snail shell. As for the egg, works as much as a four-leaf clover, right?

I'm guessing a writer from one of the old Fire Emblem games transferred over. Or Shigesato Itoi.

Chansey/Blissey made the Lucky Egg for you to be happy (Japanese name is "Happiness Egg".) Not so sure for Pelipper...

Choice Items
So it means that by wearing specs, scarves or other stuff forces you to use the same move?

The463 In reply to SharpEyLogic [2015-08-09 14:30:05 +0000 UTC]
Actually, that could make sense. Perhaps they force you to only use certain parts of your body but make you better at it.

SharpEyLogic In reply to The463 [2015-08-09 14:45:05 +0000 UTC]
That's pretty clever, but I don't exactly understand how wearing specs increase your Special Attack and wearing a scarf boosts your speed

spikestormify In reply to SharpEyLogic [2015-09-01 03:53:25 +0000 UTC]
Every game does it. I mean dust: AET has fucking soup you can eat instantly and quadruples your defense
π: 0 β©: 0
The463 In reply to SharpEyLogic [2015-08-09 14:48:15 +0000 UTC]
Perhaps the specs allow you to focus more and deliver that attack with more power, and the scarf could, in theory, be more aerodynamic than whatever it's covering.

SharpEyLogic In reply to The463 [2015-08-09 15:09:25 +0000 UTC]
And the Choice Band could relax your mind more to deliver more power in Physical attacks. Okay, it makes sense now

You think that's weird? Look at the life orb. It powers up ALL pokemon moves by 30%, but at the cost of some HP. Its a ball that drains your life force in exchange for power! In other words, this thing is the equivalent of selling your pokemons soul in exchange for more power.
Unless the pokemons ability is sheer force, in which case the life orb/sheer force combo somehow cancel each other out.
