Description
Here we see streaming light rays with marble textured walls and a wooden planked floor.Light rays shining through a negative 'window' that has been carved into a positive wall.
There is only need for two walls, a ceiling and a conical light point. This severely cuts back on the render time due to the lack of polygons that you are using. A sky & fog has been applied and the sunlight from the sky disabled. The light is infinate and volumetric, this makes a cool effect.
I personally think that streaming light rays look better with no textures applied. There is a number of images in this series, some with different textures/windows and light settings... i personally like the angle of the light shining through the window.

Hmmm.... Part 2 I think is more interesting.... Although, the "wallpaper" on the walls seems a bit complicated? Maybe something simpler on the walls would blend together better.
